I've seen comparative footage of other non-Pro games with the new boost mode and what it basically does is make sure the game loads faster, runs smoother and has less framedrops. A game that has some situations where framerate may drop at or under 20 fps would stay stable instead. To give an example, think of looking around in a game that would normally cause the camera to turn around choppy now remaining smooth. The mode literally just unlocks the rest of the resources and processing power that are artificially limited right now on the Pro for non-Pro games. However, because of that it might be the case that some games either start glitching or run too fast maybe if they've never been artificially limited. I'm afraid it won't suddenly increase lightning- and/or texture quality and such in your old non-Pro games, it just makes sure they load better and run more stable (in theory). Unless of course the creators of those games unlock said features with a Pro update.

What's the point of this comment? It's literally nothing. Embarrassing.

Anyway. If the boost mode stops Idy-lag. I'm sold.

I switched to a PS4 Pro, and FFXIV already runs great on it. Wondering if they are going to have an actual PS4 Pro patch come 4.0

My guess would be later in development, PS3 will be dropped by 4.0 but perhaps by 5.0 there will be optimization for PS4/Pro

I'll take any increase in framerate I can get for now til that happens
Very true, was rather nice of them having PS4/Pro support. I have never really had any lag in ESO but in ffxiv while in Idylshire (and other areas sometimes) load times are a bit long. Question is will the boost work for this game

On another note the new update for PS4 will allow external hd, i actually regret not having re-installed my 2TB drive from my PS4 unto my Pro

Boostmode enables what should have been there when PS4Pro launched, the ability to boost performance for games not specifically coded for the extra resource. It's very nice to see Sony enabling this feature, it gives a existing owners of standard PS4s lot more reason to buy a PS4 Pro now since you can be relatively assured that the majority of games will run better at 1080p60 than on PS4 (original).

They wont make a video about it yet. The new firmware update is a *closed* beta and we are still under NDA. I dont think they will break it and the feature is not stable yet.

Boost mode is not perfect, boost mode is using stock clocks for GPU (+100mhz) and CPU (+500mhz) that is the cause of boost performance on games, but they are disabling the half CU of GPU yet. If Square would patch this, the game would run pretty better than boost mode.

On boost mode PS4 Pro is around 2,1 TFLOPS. A patched game PS4 Pro is a 4,2 TFLOPS machine.
