Ai yi yi with that darn Shonisaurus...Is anyone else having as much difficulty?![]()
I only have namitaro, I gave up for those fishes for now, maybe next year I regain my crushed will.
I think the big fish at crescent cove took me the longest to get of all the old ones; longer than any of the legendary quest fish. Now I'm working on the fish from the most recent patch but I don't get to do it as much as I want due to waiting for certain weather to happen. The one at Mok Oogl Island doesn't seem to bite very often.
i finished the whole quest within 9 days, that was before patch 2.5, so no HQ buff ^^
at the same time i was fishing all the other big fish, wich took around 1 month (except one, see below xD), so i had literally no waiting times, there was always one fishing window open.
i think i was pretty lucky with shonisaurus, caught it in my second window.
however, it took me 3 months(!) to catch Floating Boulder, and that's just a normal big fish... (and yes, i was fishing almost every day).
Well I finally caught that Shonisaurus - that was a walk in the park compared to the Namitaro! For all you fishers out there trying for the Namitaro utilize Patience ll so you catch the Giant Takitaro when you get the fisher's intuition switch to the frog use CHUM - be fast about it as you only get 2 casts. Also when reeling in just use powerful hookset.- you don't need precision. I did lose it three times before finally catching it so don't give up. Keep trying! Garland's tools and Cat are great helpful tools for the skywatcher. Also don't keep reeling in when trying wait for that really good tug. Good Luck!!
why would you use patience 2? its useless for giant takitaro and namitaro aswell, both arent mooches
The High Chance Buff still comes from Patience II, so likely it'll increase the Chance that Namitaro bites in the end.
If you use Patience I / Patience II you don't really need those for Mooched / Non-Mooched Stuff.
You literally can use it anywhere but still have to use the right Hookset in the end.
If there is a Lv.60 1* Fish I might aswell use Patience II so the Chance increases that it bites in the end =P

the buff of patience II increases the seize of the fish, but not the likelihood of "big fish" to bite. Bigger Fish doesnt mean Big Fish in this case.
You can see that with the new "legendary" fish (opabinia, problematicus and co). You cant actually catch them in HQ, even under the effect of Patience II. If you use patience II they'll nearly have HQ seize, but are still NQ. If you catch them without, then they always have about half of that seize
the buff is completely useless

I doubt this. High Quality Fish usually have already a higher Size, you can see this when you do Aetherial Reduction via Pteranodons.
Given the Fact, the Patience II Buff itself gives 80% HQ Chance, why would the "Big Catch" Buff influence the size of a Fish to match that of an HQ Fish?
Where is the source of that of what you speak of, as the German Version states "Chance auf einen großen Fang erhöht" literally means "the Chance of a Big Catch is increased".
If this is true what you have stated, well, Square Enix should asap fix this and add correction to the Buff Discription as it truly causes confusion.
Given the Fact I was under that believe for the last 23.774 Fish I have caught so far... this is Indeed cruel then and should teach me for the worst to come...
