Not that I don't want Samurai in the game but I think that Samurai is such a straight-forward job that wouldn't bring anything new to the game that combining it with Dancer would help it tremendously (granted I would prefer if Dancer stayed separate). :-D

The potency of the heals would need to be extremely high, as TP caps at 1000. DRK using MP instead of TP only works cause MP exceeds that cap.I could see them make SAM a self-healing tank if that were the case, in the same vein as WAR. Maybe since DRK is a MP management tank, SAM could be a TP management tank. Your self heals would cost you TP, but you'd be able to "regain" that through combos and cooldowns.
Now that you mention it, I recall far eastern swordsmen utilizing "war dances" in older forms of media. (okay mostly anime and parody movies) so this actually makes a lot of sense.
Hope they dont do it.
The sam people will hate it.
The dancer people will hate it.
And it wont be a sam at all. Not any one use a katana is a sam justvlike not any one useing a sword is a knight.
Dancer is in FFXIV already. But not as a player class. You can find them in ARF, as some the snake people's class. Who just happen to be an announced beast tribe for the next expansion.
Oooh, shiney...
An enemy with the word Dancer in its name is the same as a Black Mage being called Warrior of Light. "Dancer" and "Warrior" are still words. Or is "Bowyer" an upcoming job now too?
I just don't understand people's desire to see very iconic Final Fantasy jobs be smashed together in combinations that make zero sense. FFXIV doesn't pull "a lot" from Tactics Ogre. A handful of armor sets is not "a lot". Jobs get combined in this game if they have similar aesthetics and themes and abilities. SAM and DNC share nothing in common. People who are fans of SAM certainly don't want it mashed up with DNC, and people who are DNC fans certainly don't want their job to be some amalgamation with a SAM of all things.
Not to mention, to take the TO identity of Swordmaster and use it as a Final Fantasy Samurai is an incredible disservice as it incorporates almost nothing of what makes Final Fantasy Samurais iconic.
