heres approx why it cant happen. EVENTUALLY some1 will find the very best way of farming current max ilvl gear. if savage T8 is the way to get fastest tokens, then expert roulette dies, alex dies, EVERYTHING dies except T8 savage. its how vertical progression games work. it sucks.

SE needs to find a way to take the game from vertical progression to inclined progression at a 70 degree angle to the horizontal...or in other words slow the progression and broaden the base. The increase in ilvl in Heavensward was nigh on ridiculous resulting in gear becoming irrelevant long before it's even spirit bonded. They need to slow the ilvl progression and use stat allocation to differentiate the rewards from more challenging content instead of constantly boosting ilvl.

Diadem is a perfect example for this scenario. It was all horizontal, but people abused it for maximum input.

Indeed, so how do you incentivize horizontal progression in a vertical game? Glamours are not the be all/end all that will draw out players into horizontal progression, but that's pretty much all we get in FFXIV.

IF you think about raids, specially older ones can be a pain and perhaps they could do some type of bonus to help those that haven't cleared such as extra tomes. I am one of those who has been since beta but hasn't done some coils mainly do to parties till failing it. Yet there is always hope, specially with the new challenge book of Tails. I agree to an extend to relieve that old content but I'm sure there are some people who are willing to help out or do a shout for assistance. People will help.

It's not just you OP. Judging by the census numbers it seems there is roughly half the amount of people playing now then there were at the end of ARR. If the same thing happens in Stormblood, there might not be any more expansions....

Actually OP I made some attempts to start a conversation on how to strengthen the old content and I kinda got slammed. The popular mode is to keep going ahead, full steam, on the newest content.

I understand you OP. I think many players feel like you do and I like this conversation.

The fault lies in the incentive and it just isn't there. Wondrous Trials is as best a step we can get at this time. If you skew too much towards the old stuff, then people will just farm that content and speed people through.

That's just the nature of mmos. either your around when the content is current or you aren't and you lose nothing because you'll be here for the current content and whatever else comes down the pipeline.

only thing you can do is watch the youtube guides memorize it then join a bonus friendly farm party or start one of your own things are cross server now so you might get lucky or farm tomes to get your gear else where like lore script or whatever then go from there find an fc that does that sort of thing unsync it if you can other then that there's not much you can do ARR is a progression type game always on the rise for ilvl required content

How about forming a group wich concentrate on doing old content, Im sure you not the only one who feels like this. I often read Form linkshells wich open for specific content and you can join them. And if you dont find any, than create some yourself and tell people about it. Just complaining wont help you and if you like this game than you will find a way. (Sorry if my english is bad, its not my motherlanguage)

I understand wanting to some of the older content, there is still ppl that haven't done those either so there is bound to be enough ppl to do them I always see stuff in the party finder for older content.

As for his example of some of the coils yes some mechanics are still needed but you are able to burn the boss on the coils cause I've seen it done. Unless the OP is looking at doing that content synced to the original caps for it still shouldn't be hard to put a party together for it.

As for the ilvl and old content what SE should do is put in a quest for things like coil gear and other gear like that from older raids where you can farm up upgrade items to raise the level and ilvl of the gear up to around the current caps. Then later in stormblood they can set up another quest line to upgrade that gear even further.
