    Best server for Aussie with Playtimes between 5am to 7:30am EST

    So I rolled up a free trial character onTonberry as I did research and saw that was the most heavily populated with Australian times. However despite seeing plenty of people in peak Australians (and even working on fates with them), not a single person has even said hello. What's the deal? Is it because I'm a free trial person? Is it because they're likely Japanese and don't speak Ebglish? Or are the people on Tonberry just plain rude?

    If it's language barrier/rudeness, is there a better server for me to be on? I live in Sydney so my internet connection should be fairly good (it is ADSL though). But I hear Aussies have a lot of issues with NA servers, and I'm also worried about no-one being around given the times I play (early morning American EST).

    Dunno what to tell you tbh. Lots of the game's social communities are tied up in Linkshells and Free Companies, so if you're on a free trial and can't join any, there's not much you can do about it.

    Also I've noticed lots of people don't go out of their way to befriend newbies, 90% of the time they burn out and stop playing after a couple weeks. I have a friendslist full of people that didn't continue playing, but I keep them there because I'm kinda hoping they come back one day.

    Although really I can't relate. I didn't use a free trial, so I wasn't locked out of key social features. I was able to join linkshells/FCs from the beginning. I finished my beginning tutorial, and there were mentors on the other side waiting to invite me to the novice network, lol. They also helped me find a small FC to get started.

    As for playing on NA servers, you're definitely going to run into problems. I had an Aussie in my old FC and his lag got so bad sometimes it was like the game froze for 3 minutes during Garuda normal. :/ But it is manageable, I think there are programs that can lower the latency issue. Maybe make an Alt character on a NA server and see how it plays?

    Anyway, good luck!

    Tonberry is probably THE server for you if you're in Australia, there are tons of english speakers there. Most communication is done via free company chat and linkshells; so you'll likely not see a lot of communication outside some random shouts. As a free trial player, you won't be able to join an FC, but you can always shout and ask for assistance. I'm not sure if you can get into the novice network as a trial player; but that may be something to look for. As an NA player who once was on Tonberry, I can tell you the lag from NA to JP was horrible and you'd likely experience the same issues (if not worse) going to an NA server.

    Thanks. I thought there was a good chance everyone was solely using ls for communication, but thought I'd double check before advancing too far with my char.

    I know the Novice Network is available to Free Trial players, as a friend of mine is on it. I don't know how much of Tonberry's Novice Network chat is in English versus Japanese, though. Try going to an area that has plenty of people around (particularly anyone with the crown icon by their name that indicates a mentor) and asking for an invite to it.

    Since it's Tonberry, you should probably get used to the auto-translate feature and use it to say {Novice Network} {Please invite me}
