Hello! What's the "needed" for guilds?

Hello!
I just recently came back to FFXIV from a rather long break, I intend to be serious this time. I was planning on switching to Gilgamesh once I got higher up to join a FC for raiding, but I was wondering, what are normally the needed classes?

I enjoy playing healer, and was planning to main AST, I have a friend and he's trying to decide between dps and tank.

We just don't want to get all the way up and find out we picked the wrong class/role lol

Any advise would be appreciated!

Probably depends on the FC you want to join, generally raid FCs have specific classes they are looking for and you'd have to inquire them specifically about it. Personally I suggest playing what u feel good at and can get the optimal rotation down on best.

PF is almost ALWAYS waiting on tanks. That said healers are almost always 2/2 for groups and they're either waiting on Bard/Mdps or tanks. Primarily tanks though.

I've noticed that PF is always waiting for tanks, but that doesn't answer for FCs. I'm pretty solid in my decision, but when it comes to my friend he's most likely not going to want to level all. So if there normally is a need for something or an abundance of something in guilds, that was what I was trying to find out.

Warrior is typically the most demanded tank at high end raiding if they only want to play one, and most raid groups dont need or expect their warriors to play other tanks or jobs. Not entirely sure why, but from my experience leading a raid group and recruiting for raid groups over every patch of the expansion, it is really difficult to find warriors and scholars that play their jobs well enough for savage content, as for dps, while not as demanded as war/sch, bard and machinest are equally demanded(most expect their bard to also play machinest and vice versa) and to some extent ninjas, tho not as hard to find as brd/mch.
