    Please Don't Do *This*

    image

As in, ever. We have enough to pay attention to, never mind the endless chat spam and SE calls. In reality, this screenshot is missing 3 more pages like it because the chat log couldn't handle it all.

If this person was on my server, I would black list them in a second and not feel bad.

Edit: yay for cross-server blacklisting now!

I understand making macros for certain things (raises, Living Dead, Hallowed Ground, Holmgang, etc.) but this seems a bit much, and is pretty immature and disgusting. Basically if it's something that is important to communicate to the party, sure make a macro. Otherwise, please don't, because it could clutter the chat, or the sound effect might distract someone to look when nothing important is being communicated.

the screenshot is a bit much to be honest. i'd prolly get annoyed with that prson pretty quick.
I do myself have macros but they're separated from my skills deliberately to avoid the spam.

for example I have a macro that is
    /p Swiftcast --:-- MP xxxx <se.9>

    and another that is
    /p I'll Raise <t> after mechanics stuff...

they're just that one line each no skills no actions. something I use when there's dead people and I can't raise them yet. if my swift cast is on cool down it tells the party how long it'll be before I can raise that other healer.. or it tells the other healer I will raise the dead guy just as soon as I got these shields up and dealt with the current mechanic.

my tank has a macro on the wxhb for /p Provoking <t> and another for /p Please provoke <t> tank swap required. but again don't have skills next to them. they don't get used much either. the second one usually only if my co tank is new to a fight.

I had an astrologian in a12 a couple of weeks ago that had a <se.n> macro on almost everything, draw redraw shuffle, sect changes.. annoyed the hell out of everyone..

I almost wanted to go one step further and have macros like:-

/p faster than a speeding bullet (fast blade) <se.4>
/p i'll rip your heart out (savage blade) <se.4>
/p bow to the king (royal authority) <se.4>
    etc etc

see if he got the hint, but it was too much effort and I was too lazy and didn't really wanna make people wait while I wrote a ton of macros..

This is why I have two sets of macros. One where it says "Silly, <t> the floor isn't the boss ♥" and other does the same thing without the line.

The only chat macros that should be used are things that are of consequence to other class abilities. i.e. raising saves someone else from using swiftcast/raise.

Technically I think you could report them for that if you want to under the basis of sexual or physical harassment. They have taken care of things much less vulgar over the years.

All they would do is force him to delete the macro. He likely wouldn't face further punishment unless he just rewrote them and was reported for it a second time.

That, to me, is someone who is either 12, craves the attention he doesn't get in real life or both.

I don't mind Raise macros, Pacification macros (1 line), Living Dead.. basically impotant ones.

I'll mute my run with this one. And he is spaming that button >.<"

These are a great idea. Wonder if I can integrate the first with my current macro for raise so that, should Swiftcast be on cooldown, it automatically states such to let the players know that I'm aware & not just ignoring it.
