I read they fixed the glitch not letting us obtain the pickaxe.
I currently still have 141/150 unique items gathered, and have obtained every ARR item as well as the Heavensward ones from both mining and quarrying. Do I need the mastery books too for Regional Folklore to have any chance of getting the achievement?

Yes, you need the folklore book items. The only things that don't count are items from "favors," as far as I know.

Not only do you need the books, you need a few items that aren't in the game.

There are not enough mineable and quaryable objects in the game to reach that number.

Squenix kinda blew it.

Botanists can reach the number but they need the folklore books too.

Except SE already fixed the glitch as Rynn mentioned. You can get the pickaxe, and many people including myself have had it for a little over a week now

Odd, I got the hatchet but not the pickaxe, have to go through my log and look for any unmined items.
