How to make Gil without Crafting

I am a lvl 60 Paladin and I have other jobs at 60, I don't want to get into the crafting and gathering scene, but my FC keeps pressuring me to give those classes attention if I want to see any real Gil flow into my pockets. I'm broke at 1.75 mil and I don't think I can manage in the long game of crafting and gathering while trying to stay loyal to the raiding scene. How do I make Gil without crafting or gathering?

They are right; without crafting or gathering you won't make Gil easily. Despite that, there's still some decent methods that I sometimes use. The key thing to remember is ALWAYS CHECK THE PRICES ON THE MARKET BOARD. Something that sold for 40k today could be worth 15k tomorrow. Use your wishlist to monitor the items you are selling and don't invest all of your time/effort into one item.
    • Run PotD 51-100. The big earners here are the Grade V Materia from Potsherds and Iron Sacks, though some of the glamour items sell about 10k each on my server (Gilgamesh). If you have 3 friends that are able to, consider running 101+ for the better rewards. The Night Pegasus Whistle from 151-200 can easily sell for millions, possibly tens of millions, if your server's market board isn't full of them.
    • A Realm Reborn Beast Tribes. Doing the 3rd tier of quests for each ARR Beast Tribe (Amalj'aa, Sahagins, Kobolds, Sylphs) nets you up to 12 Grade IV combat Materia a day. Again, check server prices for the best choices. Red Materia is a safe bet most of the time.
    • Exchange GC seals for items. Crafting materials can be great if the MB is low on supply. Great choices in general are Raziqsand, Emery, Raziqsap x9 (x9 because most recipes use 9 at a time), Borax x9, Scheelite, Arachne Web, and Dubbin. As always, check the prices to make sure you're making the most Gil. Use this link for a handy list of all GC items and their prices. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...3c97a/?type=cs
    • Exchange FC seals for Magicked Broom Sticks. Obviously this one only works if you have an FC and people in the FC are fine with you spending the credits.

That's all the big ones I can think of for now. But if you really want to make consistent money then consider leveling BTN or MIN to 60. Gatherers take much less Gil and time to level than Crafters do (Only need to level one gatherer to be effective VS all 8 crafters). Even at base 60 with Blue Scrip gear, which is easy to obtain, you can make consistent money daily by mining maps or selling in-demand materials.

Thanks, I'll try some of what you're suggesting. I'll come back in a week and let you know how that works out.

I've made my gillions just by Desynthing the stuff I pick up from dungeons. Personally I chose Carpenter, Goldsmith, and Leatherworker. Carpenter isn't spectacular because there're so little drops (staffs) that fall to the Carpenter to Desynth, however Goldsmith and Leatherworker are largely rewarding. Just Desynth the items to obtain raw materials, and put those onto the Market Board. Once you can Desynth the Lv50+ items, you'll start getting Battlecraft Demimateria III or Fieldcraft Demimateria III, which sell for tens of thousands of gil each, depending on your server.

    Two other easy suggestions.

    1. Take advantage of your retainers. I would guess you have them set to adventuring classes, so check which items they can bring back for you versus the market on your server. You might be pleasantly surprised how much some of the crafting materials they can grab sell for. In this case, im specifically referring to the 1 hour hunting ventures where you can assign what items they will bring back. If your server isnt supporting good prices for anything you can currently get, you can send them on the quick exploration ventures instead for a random shot at something great or potentially something utterly worthless. And of course, the longer explorations for when youll be offline for awhile can yield some good results too.

    2. Are you using your Lores? A quick character search indicates that you have several classes at level 60 currently. So are you gearing any of them with lores currently/working through the anima for one of them? If your lores are spoken for, then keep doing what you are now. However, if you arent using them and are just accumulating/capped you could buy some of the level 60 crafting mats in idyll and sell them too. If you dont want to do the research to decide which ones to buy, you could always advertise how many lores you have to "sell" and find a buyer to work with.

magnanimousCynic and Frizze make some good suggestions. I've already been selling excess GC seals in the form of craft mats, so I can vouch for that bringing in a bit of gil.

I'd like to add though that you don't need to max out all craft and gather classes at 60 to profit from them still. I've made ~1M gil so far just selling excess products and materials from Leatherer, Armorer, and Miner that I'm leveling. They're all still in the 30-40 range. They started profiting around 25 or so, when most of the material products and inputs ended up being things not sold by NPCs, unlike the lower level stuff. It doesn't take a lot of time to reach that point, and when you do, you can essentially level the class while making money. Sure, a 60 Omni-crafter can rake it millions of gil with less effort, but it takes a lot of work to reach that point. Until then, a fledgling crafter's still gotta eat! (and decorate apartment). The game economy is friendly even to middling crafters.

For some like Leather and Armorer, refined materials like ingots and leather sell reasonably well on the marketboard. Crafted gear is hit or miss, but some of the pieces sell quite well. With the gathering professions, you can obviously just sell raw materials, but you might as well co-level a crafter with it and sell refined materials for a little more profit. Leveling in a profitable manner isn't as efficient as HQ turn-ins, but not all of us have millions of gil to throw at a problem.

Honestly, I make most of my money off of maps. Doing dragonskin maps and going into Aquapolis allows you to make bank a lot of the time. Plus just by running it (if you get to the last room) you can make 200K easily.

You need to be a gatherer though to get them...but I think most people are nice enough to let people without them join parties. Ask your FC if you guys can run some!

I'll just echo the while GC seals. 50k seals will net you about 600k gil selling crafting mats(depending on MB). Just roll on all the loot from dungeons and turn them in. Ex dungeon gear gives you 1100 seals per piece.

With casual play you can get back to 50k seals in just a couple of days. 2 to 3 mil a week isn't too shabby for just running dungeons.

Simply sell everything you don't need on the market board, provided it goes for above vendor cost after figuring in the fee. I keep both of my retainers full, unless I just happen to sell through everything particularly quickly. Vendor prices are basically terrible, so virtually anything else you could do with an item short of destroying it will make you more money if you put it on the market board. Even things that sell for only a few hundred gil add up if you have an extra space in your retainer's sell inventory. Nearly everything I sell is just stuff I don't care about that I acquire while playing the game. I spent a million gil the day before yesterday while leveling alchemist and I'm already back to where I started on what I believe is a lower pop server without any special effort. Generally the best way to make more money is to simply be smarter about what you do with the stuff you already get. Look for opportunities to get more for what you got and spend less for what you need.

I just wanted to add something else I discovered today. I bought a treasure map, trying out that for the first time ever, despite having unlocked it during ARR whenever I originally was leveling my ninja. Three archaeoskin maps bought for 1,000-2,000g each yielded enough raw gil to cover the cost of the maps, as well as nearly 300,000gil in crafting mats. The value of the loot from the maps varied widely (~30,000-150,000), but provided the low end is the true low end, these are basically free money if you don't have enough stuff to sell already. Also, to amend the advice regarding company seals: I find I make more gil per seal selling the adamantite fransecas (sp) for the relic weapons than raw mats, almost twice as much in fact.
