So...you're saying that my point is not the right point? What is the right point? Your point? What's your point again? What if I don't think your point is the right point? Then who has the right point?

    No, you're not excused.

It's not about being able to speak/write Japanese or not for the JP ONRY, it's because of some of the bad manners NA players have imo.

I've seen NA players in FFXI who just leave PT right after they level since they don't care about rest of the PT, people go way too much AFK as for if JP party they will tell you ahead of time they may go AFK a lot since blah blah... there are a lot more examples I can bring in but I don't want to start anything... I already talked about this one in another post with more details and response I got on that thread wasn't that good either so I'll keep quiet...

This is one reason they are considering language specific servers for these type of players, most of the time it has nothing to do with being able to communicate, it's more about manners.

Not saying it's a bad thing but it's how different economy plays differently, NA players think it's OK to do what they do while JP's don't and while JP's put JP ONRY, NA players really hate seeing that.

Hey my linkshell in FFXI had both JP and NA players and we were doing well overall, so if you find the right players you should be fine. For those saying JP ONRY just ignore them and move on.

So its not about this fictonal language barrier its about how NA players play.I could have guessed that but im glad you said it or i would have gotten slammed. Its true i get pissed at those NA players aswell BUT i still invite other NA. I do not discount THE WHOLE NA playerbase.

As i said all along if they do not care to play with us then lets get people who will. I never said all of them are like that but a lot are. (FF11 a lot more then ff14 tho i will admitt that)

    Edit:
Rein i must ask. Just because some NA players Leave when they lvl or are stupid ... do you think it is right for them to say JP only? i mean not all NA players do that. Its not right it wrong to dismiss a full NA playerbase. and im sorry if i have a problem with that. What do you think?

It's not right imo, but that's how those players feel after getting crapped by those bad apples and they don't' even want to bother trying to try different players to see which one are the good apples.

Try getting bad apples after another, you will just /facepalm yourself and give up.

    1. Made PT with mixed JP and NA players (good/bad players included)
    2. Bad NA player leaves 20 minutes after joining PT since he leveled and didn't even give heads up that he has to leave (JP players give about 15-30 min heads up and looks for replacement)
    3. Now PT has to farm lower level mobs until new player comes in, and it happens to be that JP PT leader invited another NA player since he has no problems with them, but bad pick, it was another bad apple
    4. NA player finally arrives to camp and joins PT, seems like it's going well for 5 minutes, that NA player goes AFK without saying anything and to others he's just standing there..
    5. He comes back and fights a little... then wow he goes AFK again without telling anyone again.. say this goes on for 1 hour and you can tell that NA player is basically leeching off EXP doing something else. Don't tell me this doesn't happen lol I know a RL friend who does this exact same shit lol
    6. PT leader says sorry you're not helping much so have to kick you out the PT after a replacement comes, now that NA player is pissed off but say he just logged out and no harm done, but that next person he invited was another bad apple.. 3 bad apples in a row = not good impression.... JP PT leader decides in future no more NA players in general since it's too hard to sort out the good/bad.

It's mainly stuff like that... I'm sure they tried to invite in the past but after few bad experiences or extreme case like above (happened in PT I was in with wife in FFXI, and when I asked the NA player why he leaving without giving any warning, or heads up and he says "mind your own fucking business, it's only a game, I play any way I want" close to exact words lol)

Other than that is word of mouth, once one JP player feel this way he/she will probably mention it in the Linkshell and others in there can also end up deciding they don't want to go through the same crap he/she went through and just go JP ONRY... (which is happening, happened in FFXI)

Sure they can talk before making PT to try and find/sort our the bad apples but why bother if they have enough JP people on the server they would just want to stick with something fast, so they can go exp camp fast and exp.

    Great post.

So here is another question. If they CHOSE not to play with us why is it bad that some NA players want to do the same? I got that bad apple in f11 for 7 years. But i STILL will pick any JP player as long as its the job i need lol.

I guess what im trying to say is why is it ok for JP players to do it but not ok for us to want Single speaking servers?

Eh? I don't remember seeing JP players complaining when they see NA ONRY - pretty much no one is stopping you from doing it and I think since JP players doing it, why not? They do it, you can do it too if you want. imo NA players have more tolerance since they are used to seeing those bad players normally so they can keep on trying, as for JP players who only stuck with JP games have not and they give up trying faster.

I chose not to bring manners into this simply because they want to discuss the topic of language, but... ya...

I could have pointed at NA manners a long time ago, but as you said this was supposed to be a discussion about language. But anyway, I still get the feeling that you're making assumptions about the Japanese community as a whole. Yes, there are a lot of Japanese players (I'd assume mostly from FFXI) that have a bad taste in their mouths from experiences in FFXI. There are others who simply are scared to try and speak English. And then there are those that don't mind and would like to party with English speaking players.

You just admitted yourself, not all of them are like that.

    Edit for an Edit:

I think you're trying to hard to pinpoint a specific reason for why they say "JP Only" and also being a bit narrow minded on the Japanese perception of the meaning of "JP Only" as we recently had someone attest to what one possible interpretation is.

Of course i never said they all are. So thats moot. But there are MORE THEN A FEW who are. You act like its 12 people only. Its not.

Still its wrong to discount the full NA playerbase because of a few. Just like you are telling me its wrong to dismiss the JP player base (which IMO i am not but you seem to think i am).

The point I'm trying to get across is that the majority of those who do not want to play with English speaking players is probably not simply because they hate you.
