Reinstalling game - failing to install DirectX?

I recently have been dealing with a whole slew of technical PC issues, which ultimately ended in uninstalling Windows 10 from my computer and reinstalling my old Windows 7. After much additional hassle, I've finally gotten my computer back to a largely workable order (though I'm still having some weird issues here and there... such as being unable to run WoW with MSAA turned on without getting warning beeps from my motherboard lol), and I'm in the process of reinstalling all my games.

After running the ffxivsetup file to begin installing FFXIV, it tells me that "A new version of DirectX is required for installation. Install DirectX now?" I of course click accept and click through the installation wizard... when it gets to the Installing Components step, it fails every time with the following message:

I tried to open the DXError.log, but Windows says it can't find it. When I open the DirectX.log file, I get a string of lines that I can't make sense of and I'm not sure if it's secure to post here. If it will help, let me know, and I'll c/p it to this thread. xD

Anyway, I've tried some google searching but can't really find any thread that applies to my problem. I'd like to get FFXIV reinstalled so I can go back to playing the game. Please help!

Try manually installing the latest DirectX 9.0c runtime, and make sure your graphics drivers are properly installed and up-to-date. Sounds like you have other graphics-related issues with your computer.

EDIT: Heh, nevermind the first part - just saw you've already tried that. In that case, something is seriously wrong with your graphics card's drivers or hardware, because installing DX9 should be very straightforward. Try reinstalling drivers, make sure the card is seated properly, and that your displays are connected to the discrete GPU and not the motherboard's onboard graphics chip.
