I just really hope it's not terribly one-sided. I'm still of the hope that the Black Wolf was, in essence, a dutiful and righteous commander. Now, I'd be fine with whoever replaced him after his death being someone truly worth killing, but I don't want to see the entire occupation presented as unilaterally bad. I frankly want to see some of the newer generation rebels (though this would be a lot easier if the Garleans had held control for about a generation more) making use of Garlean technology, mentalties, and education, to try to bring about a reiteration of Ala Mhigan tradition in a stronger, smarter embodiment.

This is why I headcanon my character secretly supporting the empire
I just wish we had the option to join the empire, because their leaders aren't inept

Exactly, here in the west we have this romantic feeling about the noble resistance fighter. Sure sometimes they are fighting tyranny like the french in ww2, but sometimes the resistance is the Taliban.

I was in the sandbox, sometimes folks don't feel liberated, sometimes they feel invaded.

Well I doubt there's anything unexpected (amazing).
The jobs----I already have 3 battle jobs and 7 crafting jobs of lv50-60. When it comes to 4.0, max lv grows to 70, I'll want to die. As for new jobs, Alisaie might be key NPC of red mage.
The MSQ, I'm more certain that the red-dressed girl is Yda. She changes a lot after her great...loss.
I forget the guy's name who followed Ilberd's order to set the weapon to kill the mass of people. Probably he'll turn back to help WoL (and finally die to pay for his misdeed).
the Garlean Empire should also play an important part but it's hard to explain why SE must creat new characters to do that...

I've thought long and hard about stormblood and what we're getting and I'll tell you what I think we're going to get.

A main story quest from 60-70.

A few dungeons to do from level 61-69.

A dungeon needed for the main story at 70.

Two dungeons at 70 for the ex roulette which will get moved in to a level 70 roulette once we get the next two dungeons for the ex roulette.

Three 24 man raids following a storyline.

An 8 man raid with 4 turns to supplement gearing up while farming new tomestones that cap at 450 a week and will cycle as we get new tomestones. In addition the fourth step of the raid will require clearing it 7 times over 7 weeks to get a weapon. They will also have a Savage mode variation to clear.

2-3 initial primals that are part of the main storyline and have an EX mode that drop weapons and mounts. 2-3 new primals added in a side storyline with an optional EX mode.

    More hildibrand quests.

Some new sidequests and stories they decide to add.

    A new relic weapon.

Do you see what I'm getting at here?

That you're one of the players who want change for the sake of rebelling against the man and doesn't realize how upset you'd be if they changed things, and how threads would come up on the forums about, 'Content Droughts,' and, 'SE is so Lazy: two Tome Sets an expac?!' and so forth.

You did an excellent job of listing the core of the game upon which it is based and keeps running. The fact you listed it with the air of it being bad shows a lack of understanding with how perfect that formula is. I'm not White Knight-ing for SE either. They implement new content with new gear, with various methods of acquiring gear. They space out the time between content updates so the gear doesn't become outdated in a handful of weeks or a couple of months. It lasts. That's time to catch up if you took time off, or to enjoy being as up-to-date as possible.

Then SE adds new things to the game, and updates old things. The Diadem was new, Verminion was new, Sky, Sea, and Stone was new, etc... Its not as though they only stick to that main formula.

I totally disagree with what you said right here. This only thing stops me to even care about the gear because it will be obselete ( if not already by the day the patch comes up ). FF XIV is a rich game but its balance his horrible :/

So would you be happier if the gear upgrade was at the start of the expansion and there was no possible way to get better gear at all until the next expansion?

I'd probably be happier if I got gear at the start of the expansion and then upgraded it with stats and bonuses of my choosing over the course of the expansion.
Think relic armor but closer to tomestone grind than relic grind though.

It could even be better for keeping people playing, hit your upgrade cap for the week? Work on an alt set, something purchasing with tomestone currency prevents at the moment.

I'm with Jandor. I'd rather be able to upgrade my stuff as we went. The gear treadmill isn't encouraging me to play and stay bleeding edge. Oh, it works for that at first. But after a few patches where your tometone gear is rendered obsolete by the next patches dungeon gear, I stop wanting to do it.
