The other thing is. If they wanted to "earn" our trust back they still stomped all over the people who had invested in the what was great but now-dated gear in favor of new recipes. Which are being changed again I might add. Which will be changed again in 2.0~ So to be honest if people were worried about things retaining value they most likely will not have any really come 2.0 anyways. At which point gil influx will only harm the game unless they come up with a even bigger sink or another method in which to create gear worth using. I guess they could create a dynamis currency system of sorts or make the company seals worthwhile.

I don't see the issue. The people with the most money are typically going to be the first ones to buy it, usually at a pretty high price that others can't or won't pay for it. Same thing with me and the Cobalt gear when it first came out. I only had about 2mil when 1.19 hit and I wasn't willing to shell out half a mil per piece of gear. I waited a couple weeks and it dropped a lot and that's when I picked it up. My dated iron gear served me fine until then and if they for some reason release new armor this patch (I hope they don't) my Sentinel gear will last me long enough until I can upgrade.

Although I hear and understand your concerns, I don't agree with any of them. I think that these are terrible ideas that would enrage the folks that have played this game since launch.

Ya, I would think it would P.O many players. At the same time... many players get P.O'd regardless of any small change that occurs.

You do realize the whole issue you have a problem with only lasts for about 1-2 weeks after a patch and then dies off, right?

Again, not trying to belittle you, but you're just wrong. You don't understand the current game economy if you feel gil is an issue. I have no crafting or gathering jobs above 30, yet I have no problem turning a lovely profit from farming specific mats.

Just because you/new players don't want to take the initiative to use basic math and run the MW/AH, doesn't mean that everyone should lose their gil.

Well I am a rich player... I've worked my tail off to get my gil, And as such I don't believe that my gil should be rest to 0 with the newer people.

There are two key problems affecting the massive influx of gil:

    1. No Proper Gil-Sinks- Aside from the airship fee of 5,000G, there aren't any other gil-sinks in the game to remove gil constantly from the economy (At least as reliably as the airship does). There's no reason to rent a Chocobo once you get your own gil-free bird. Lastly, there's no reason to consistently (key word) use the repair NPC/dark matter vendors to repair your gear when you get 1-2 stacks of Grade 5 Dark Matter from Ifrit because the weapon drop rate sucks and you have to spam the fight (Or you have LS Mates who can use some of their 1-2 stacks from Ifrit to repair your gear for free).

The only properly working gil-sink as of now is the airship... If SE wishes to remove more gil from the game, useful sinks are needed.

    2. Unsustainable Demand for Food & Gear- This is another problem because the demand for food items is basically non-existent until ALL (Not just the 2-3 current items) food becomes useful. This will hopefully be rectified soon, but until then... it remains a problem.

Gear on the other hand has little to no demand after the "new" factor wears off. I know what your about to say... "They implemented the materia system! Gear should still have a demand!!" Well, your partly right & partly wrong. Gear indeed does have a higher demand, but only specific pieces of gear.. Not gear as a whole.

Key example kids: If Bayohne or Rukkirii were looking to materialize some gear.. Wouldn't it make sense for them to buy the item that costs 30k (More like 2-3k if you actually make it) that has a high chance of getting materia that's worth 250k+, rather than buy the item that costs 100k+ and is known to get nothing but junk? Anyone with half a brain would say they're going to buy the 30k item... because if it makes a materia that's worth a lot (Even if it's one they don't need) they can turn around and sell it. Then they can buy whatever materia they want with the gil.

There is no demand for the Robes, Haubergeons, etc. because they can be made for a fraction of the 200k+ they sell for. Secondly, why would I buy that to materialize when I can buy a Mythrill Wristlet (Which I can wear two of) for like 15-30k? Demand for gear isn't balanced partly because of this.

If SE can find solutions to these two problems there would be a lot less gil in the economy. I don't know what exactly could be done, but anyone with an idea could possibly help me out further.

I have a decent amount of gil, hover around 20mil usually. Double Melds on all things. Working on triples. Same boat as you in terms of crafting. Yet I'd give it up even more because I'm sure i'll hit 100m+ before 2.0 comes out. I just rather have a great re-launch then have a horrid economy. Gil is worthwhile if your into melding, and if melding is going to be the way to achieve the best gear... then doesn't that make gil important?

Ahh you are right about the mizore. The gil sink. It sucks because materia is obtained through cheap dated items. Coffers and crafting cover what gear is worth melding. I mean they will need to aid the PS3 players somehow because wards prices are dumb and not worth buying unless you find someone who mis-priced. Same goes for materia prices.

Don't worry about it. There will be new servers for people like you who want to start over and use your knowledge to dominate the economy on a server filled with newbs.

This is a bit of a falsehood. There is no question as to the extent of the data transfer when it comes to 2.0 it will be a complete transfer. The only thing in question is the over all size of our inventory. And even then there will be measures put in place so that we do not loose anything.

by the time 2.0 launches the xiv will have been going for over two years at that point. Any one coming into a established server at that point and expecting to be on anything resembling a even footing to a established player is delusional at best.

If you were suggesting the creation of new post 2.0 servers so people could start on a even playing field free of the relics and odditys of the old economy and game play. Then i think you might garner some support. How ever suggesting that every one's time and effort be put to the flame to make you feel better about things being "Fair" is definitely not going to win you any friends.
