Given that SAM files are in the game and BLU files are not, it would seem the folks who picked up on the nearly identical way Sam Raimi is written in katakana to the job Samurai weren't reaching so hard after all.

Given that we've had certain Relic Files in the game in the past that were there specifically to troll dataminers, nothing is confirmed until its announced. No one is going to argue the point that Blue Mage is the obvious choice for a Spiderman Hint. There are plenty of more obvious choices for Samurai. Silver Samurai, anyone? So, yes, the Sam Raimi thing is reaching. Very bad reaching at that. The shirts have all been pretty obvious from the get go. If the Spiderman references Samurai, we will have an example of the exception.

I hear this nonsense constantly, but nobody has ever actually produced substantive evidence that it ever happened, much less that it was intentional "trolling".

Tanks are always the shortage in queues, everyone knows this. Imagine the bottleneck in the duty finder if they release a new dps and new healer with no new tank.

Unfortunately, the imgur album that contained those datamined icons has since been deleted, its source being a reddit datamining thread on the 3.15 relic files.

The first set of images were the icons for the second model of the anima weapon, obtained after finishing the step with the 80 unidentified items. The book icon was just a simple book, similar to the icon used by the book obtained with centurio/allied seals. The rainbow elixir was an elixir-like icon with rainbow-like colors, and the "New Atma? 1" and "New Atma? 2" icons were black and white versions of the 2.x atma icons.

It's not definitive proof anymore, due to the lacking images, but it's something that has happened, as those books, atmas and the rainbow elixir have never been used ingame.

Thank you for the clarification on what the imgur gallery contained, that was the only thing I wasn't sure about. I don't know if unused data is necessarily indicative of an effort to troll dataminers, is the thing. I think the presence of something like Samurai files says a lot about intent, especially considering when it appeared.

While I agree that unused data isn't always intentionally placed in the files to troll dataminers (though coming from WoW, Blizzard did have a tendency to troll dataminers, every now and then), I'd say datamined files should always be taken with a grain of salt.
