RDM Zodiac?

It has been said that the Red Mage job will be obtainable in an ARR zone and does not require the completion of the MSQ of either ARR or HW. Whether this means it doesn't need Stormblood, I don't know, I can't seem to find an answer to that. However, if it is obtainable without SB, do you think RDM will have a Zodiac relic?

I think it's pretty safe to say "no, they will not", as the Heavensward Jobs did not have relic either or even AF1/1.5 gear - they just skipped straight onto AF2 and eso/anima weapons. Even though RDM (and any other new Job) will not require HW access to unlock does not mean they will have relic, as relic was actually a holdover from 1.0 (in 1.0 it was literally the BiS weapons in the entire game) so there is little reason to give them here I'm afraid.

But I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I would say that Stormblood is needed to even activate the quest for RDM, even if it's in the old ARR area's.

As for a Zodiac version of its weapon, I think it'll probably go the same way they did DRK, AST and MCH and not bother with their Zodiac or even Anima weapons. They will probably have you go through the new Eureka(sp?) zone instead.

But, you never know.

I think you need only Stormblood for the lv61-70 jobquests. Heavensward will give you the lv51-60 jobquests.
Without Heavensward and Stormblood the RDM will be already at max. level (level 50)

I am not completely sure myself, but "Unlock RDM job" is plastered all over the product information for Stormblood, so it's why I figured even though it is in the old 2.0 area's, a Stormblood access key would probably still be required to get RDM.

For me, it's part of their selling point of the expansion.

I think the only reason the HW jobs didnt have AF1 or a Zodiac was the fact they were locked behind Ishgard. There are players who have not purchased/installed HW out of choice, but I suppose it's not likely.

Zodiac isn't 3.0, which is why DRK, AST and MCH did not get Zodiac weapons.

RDM, and whichever new Job(s) we get, are 4.0-exclusive, so as such, they will have neither Zodiac weapons nor Anima weapons, and their "relic" will be the second available tome weapon, just like Ferdinand for MCH, Atlas for AST and Deathbringer for DRK were.

The main raison was more that all this stuff became pretty pointless with the new expansion and it would be meaningless to waste time developping gear for all thos content only here for glamour now. That's why they only added weapon because it would be a problem otherwise, and just added the new jobs on already existing gear, which takes no time of development.

The only issue with that is the fact that AST/MCH/DRK all got weapons from the previous Primals, which as you said are essentially just glamour at this point. The SB jobs will get weapons from them as well. It just would have been neat for the new jobs to get Zodiacs and Animas.

Not true, you unlock Ast, Mch and Drk and they are level 30 you have to level through the old content and those weapons from the primals can be used at the appropriate level. It is not all glamour.
