PvP Mentor NEEDS PvP Requirements

72 FL is a circus, but I thought I was in the Twilight Zone yesterday in ShatterzZz when I see a player earn walk the line II. Awesome, we have some new life in FL. Theyre in my party and color me surprised, theyre a PvP Mentor...with only 30 matches. I examine them, 145 gear and melded PvP materia...

Well, new players are starting to for advice and hes encouraging them to meld their pvp gear, etc. I ask them if they have Purify, his response "Purify? Isnt That Whm spell?". He begins making calls and people are actually following them, like sheep to the slaughter. Directing alliances to hit small ice on opposite side of the map, etc. A lot of these players were new and following because someone noticed his Mentor status

There needs to be requirements for PvP Mentor, so it finds its way on players who literally didnt start pvping yesterday. New players ARE listening to mentors and if this player is an example of what PvP Mentors could be out there, thats scary.

At the moment there are no restrictions on which Mentor icons you can use once you become a Mentor. You could qualify through the crafting requirements and still use any of the icons.
It would make more sense for each icon to have its own set of requirements

If you are being sarcastic I can't tell but rank 50 in all 3 GCs is pretty overkill and unreasonable. Especially as long as the PVP abilities points are tied to rank. I don't care about mentor status but if I did I would never be able to get it because switching GCs gimps my PVP abilities for Feast. Though it doesn't look like I'll be doing Feast past this season honestly. The 1000 PVP kills also screws over healers so I'm guessing you probably are being sarcastic and I just missed it lol.

What? No.

Career healers get screwed here, people with GC dedication/apathy get screwed here, and 200 feast wins is nowhere near the investment of 200 FL wins.

PvP points is a silly reason to not have all GCs rank 50 :^)

The second post has all the correct information with a reasonable comment, can't say that for any other post in this thread as of yet. I am guessing Canadane wants to make a point by going to the extreme of the other end.

But the point is give requirements to each mentor should be done, while the generic one means (or should mean rather) that they met the requirements for all of them. Plus right now, it can give conflicts in the novice network. I seen a few times where a crafter main and in the network because of crafting then changing the title for a sec just to access it (I forget what she said but it said something like it wouldn't accept her as DoL/DoH and had to mess around with it) Sorry got off track, the point is, people expect mentors to know more then they do no matter the status. She was asking battle questions because compared to most people, she is new to battle, but a long time crafter and people jumped on her back saying "you are a mentor you should know it"

So having the tags have more meaning will be helpful

Yeah nah you can shove off with that GC requirement. Grinding 3 GCs to level 50 doesn't prove any sort of proficiency or skill at all.

I'm not really convinced having a mentor tag plays that big a role. People that assert themselves end up making calls. And its often demonstrated that being assertive says nothing about an individual's pvp experience, either. It's always been this way, just becomes more noticeable when there's an influx of new players.
