    Healing responsibilities after 1.20

    I have an honest question to the devs that I sincerely hope our awesome community reps will pass along.

    In short: What is your vision for how a party is healed after 1.20?

    In older RPGs, a healer class heals, buffs and heals some more. But XIV, obviously, is a chocobo of a different color.

    Honestly, with our current abilities, there's not much time as a Mage to do much else than cure and buff, whether the player is CNJ or THM. But in 1.20, not only do we have to make the most of fewer abilities and spells, but proficiency -- as I understand it -- is based on current class level.

    So does this proficiency system mean that healing should be a more person endeavor, and that mages will only have to heal in emergencies? Or will mages still be expected to throw everything else by the wayside in favor of cure bombing just to keep the pace with damage?

    Furthermore, what is the vision for beyond 1.21 when PLD is in the mix, as it seems they will significantly alter the way cures are distributed to the party?

    non mage class will not have enough mp to manage there own cures. con will be healer, thm will be nuker (if they get there power back)

    It just seems odd to me that they'd waste an exclusive magic attack+ ability and nukes on a class resigned to cure bombing. Which is why I thought it'd be nice to hear what their vision is.

    In 1.21, PLD will ease the cure load and BRD will help with MP levels. I'm just curious if they intend for CNJ to do more than cure bomb. 1.x is obviously slowly becoming the foundation for 2.0. I realize the class changes in 1.20 are only a portion of the large design, but I still think we need to know where they're going with it all.

    After all, we'll have to spend a few months between .20 and .21 with half-implemented class/job changez doing content likely designed for the full realization thereof.

    as much brd will help mp managing, mp pools of DoW can't make you self-sufficient. gla have roughly 500 mp, that are less than 4 heals in a row.Assuming brd replenish 3 mp/tick like FFXI, that takes almost 45 secs to replenish enight mp for a cure III (which is gonna be removed, but we speaking of hypotesis). That's hardly enought to let you self-heal enought without an active healer.

    Dedicated healers will be WHM after jobs are implemented, so it's a bit of a moot point.

    1.20 con will be main healer, my LNC right now has 564MP so I cant heal myself through a whole event, so CON will need to be healer, and DDs heal themselves when needed.

    After 1.21 WHM will be healer, probably with a bigger mp pool than CON, and pld heals will prolly be like FFXI when they were mainly used for hate management.

    They have stated that PLD will have a reduced HP pool and a slightly larger MP pool along with increased defence stats... but i think the point being made about PLD changing how healing works is in reference too

    PLD Abl. 2 - Grants a HoT effect on all party members within range when a healing spell is cast on you.
    which will leave PLD in a wonderful position for tanking anything that AOE's, as everyone gets some benefit when he receives a cure lowering the stress on the healer.

    PLD will not heal pt members outside of getting hate and AOE heals like PLD ability 2, that will probably have alot of hate on it, PLD's job will be to tank ie keep hate and not take a CONs job.

    I didnt mean to imply he would take cons job, I meant it would simple make con's job easier and there for allow him to throw in a couple of those nukes hes got laying about as he wont be require to heal the entire party, just the paladin.
