Noob Question About Gear

Alright, so I have returned to this game. The last time I played I believe there was some tome system in place for earning tomes that you could spend on various gear. Unless I am confusing this game with another, that is possible lol.

Anyway, is that still a thing? How is gear earned now? Is there something like the tome system still in place or is it just a random drop setup? I just want to know what to expect for how I can gear my character once I hit the 50-60 level range.

As for gear before 60 I think just getting whatever works is fine (aka really cheap gear, MSQ rewards, and dungeons you do part of the story), like I never worried about gearing myself from 50 to 60 so long as I met the requirements for the dungeon (I liked to be a little bit above min.).

If you do PvP a lot btw you can get some fairly cheap easy to get ilvl 235 gear, which can be a great boost from the story stuff. You can get 1,000 points from a frontline duty queue (daily reward), and more depending on what place the team won (winning reward is each match, regardless if you have the daily reward). So just queue once a day or so and then go pick up the Garo gear for a really easy ilvl boost . Gear price varies around 1,000 - 4,000 depending on slot.

NP~! Also not sure if you saw my Garo edit but the gear is an appreciable jump if you haven't collected tomes, not ready to get into a dungeon/need the ilvl, and don't want to do Hunts either.

235 isn't end game ofc, but it can help you quickly achieve minimum ilvl and surpass it depending on how far you're into the story and how much you dig pvp. The event will end in 6 months so they've said
