I don't think there is a problem with one person being better at a video game than someone else. I think it is the balancing of people who want tangible rewards that show their prowess against the people who feel belittled due to the jackwagons who like to rub that status in other people's faces. They are not the majority of group A, but are very vocal about their accomplishments and remind others how awesome they are. Group B also wants tangible rewards for their time too.
There is a lot going on with this paragraph.
As far as buying clears, I don't have an issue with it for a couple reasons. Raiding can be expensive. It is an opportunity for them to make a monetary return on their time investment. Should crafted gear be relegated to crafters only? The raider who purchased that gear did not put in the time or effort or expense to master that content. Why should they get the rewards? It goes both ways and in the case of a crafter buying a clear from a raider, it's a closed loop system. Crafters get money from raiders so they can raid and the crafter gives money to get clears from them.
I have a very nice house IRL, I have not done most of the work to renovate the house. I paid other people who are better skilled than I to do that work. I reap all the benefits and the neighbor visits to tell me how pretty the house looks afterwards. I didn't do the work, but I get the rewards. The contractors do too, it's the money I paid them.
The sync/unsync debate has happened here many times already. This is a vertical progression game. In every vertical progression game, all content gets easier over time. I would be happy if they made rewards (minions, mounts, titles, gear, etc) to be sync only. There are more people who want the unsync rewards than the people who want them to be level locked. As far as deserve or not deserve, SE has spoken about that very clearly. Unsync clears yield full benefits/loot, SE has determined that they deserve them. Again, we can feel however we want about it, personally, I think rewards should be unsync only, but I am not in charge.
They are RNG based to make you spend more time to get them. More time = more sub money. Simple as that.
If they made many of the changes that some of us have asked for, all non-savage content to be harder, required EX clears for relics, much weaker welfare gear and more. We would probably have a much smaller subscriber base. Which would mean that we would get less content to play than we do now.
Which is better?
I'm not sure.
