Sounds like some of your effects are just turned off, check your settings in the character config in one of the tabs. If you've recently switched from playing on a ps3 to the ps4 there is a button to transfer your ps3 char data to the ps4 which will transfer most of your char settings and hotbar settings to the ps4.
