I find the drop rates reasonable for a fight you can do all day till your eyeballs melt. The rates aren't any worse than a coveted piece off Faffhogg which was once every 21-24 hours. That's the simple tradeoff. The more often you can do the fight in a day, the lower the drop rates. The only insulting bit is the fact that you can't do anything about the duplicate weapons you get.

The problem with the ifrit fight is 1) latency 2) A not particularily well designed UI and 3) exp party mechanics of just standing there and spamming actions on the mobs till they die don't work on him and 40+ levels of those bad habits are hard to unlearn (assuming you weren't PLd and know the basics of the job)

I'd love this game to succeed. I actually enjoy Ifrit's fight now that I don't die like 6 times before he Hellfires.

But I doubt 1.20 is going to radically change my impressions of FFXIV to the point where I'll believe it's launch-ready and worth a subscription fee. My planis to pay for the month the patch comes out then quit for the 2 months until the next patch (or at least that's my plan) I may just eventually say screw paying for that 1 in 3 months too eventually.

The reason they're adding low/mid-game content is for new players and eventually PS3 launch. Who would want to even stick around to 50 if there's nothing to do at those ranges? In order for this game to become even mildly successful there has to be some content to keep players going at least until their first 50.

The Primal battles most certainly need to stay, if nothing else than for the sake of the actual story. You know, the 7th Umbral Era storyline that ushers in the changes for 2.0. All those words that flashed across your screen before you accepted those quests. That one.

I can agree that we need more long-term goal oriented content, I don't think anyone would disagree with you there. However they are in a state of completely changing everything about the world. It would be one thing if all they had to worry about was balance and content. They've got sweeping changes to worry about though, which spreads the dev team thinner that most.

Who said moogle weapons were going to be better than ifrit weapons? They could just as easily be the same in attack, but with different stat and element bonuses, making them situationally better.

Wishful thinking. I don't think they are going to bother with "situations".

Thats my point. SO many people complained that it was soooo hard in the begining. Just to end up claiming its too easy, once they figure it out. Just to go on and exclaim how easy it is to kill him but want the garunteed drop of there choice.

It begins to seriously seem like alot of posters complaining about wanting easy mode.

I have a feeling the Moogle drops are going to be a vanity item at best. Maybe they'll have some magic-based stats making them good for lolTHM. Garuda weapons will be the big one as long as they have accuracy instead of evasion.

Thats where I think the forums are not the best idea. There are relatively just a few ppl who complain about things being too hard but they are extremely loud about it so se thinks its the majority. Look what is continueing to happen to xi. They have stripped it of any strategy or need of skill outside holding a mob so you can proc it making the game super easy and completely boring.

I'm all about hard content or content you need skill or strategy. It is frustrating when you die or run out of time (Dynamis-Windurst anyone) over and over again before you get the win but once you do it makes it that much more satisfying. A harder, strategic battle with somewhat easier drops rates would be fine with me.

Lets face it, Ifrit is just the first bcnm really, collect tapers, get a lamp, go to node, fight, repeat. Content in developement and incoming? I can wait a lil while. Devs have quite the job to do as it is, I can be patient

    Why should it be locked?

We're not getting content any faster than what they've told us. There's nothing we can do, it's futile.
Either wait a few patches to play or wait till 2.0 (and then wait for the content that comes AFTER 2.0 in the PDFs).
I'm not asking for faster content, I'm suggesting content that lasts more than a month, and not by making a dungeon bigger or harder. There can be both short and longer term goals.
For example, Batraal weapons could have been better, and been more time consuming to obtain like through a token drop system that is traded in to an npc. (yep much like they are doing with prime fights)

It's the same old waiting game. This is nothing more than ranting & beating dead horses in hopes of a dev response or some crap
That is what I'm trying to resolve here, content that lasts longer than halfway to the next patch.
No one's ranting, and I don't recall seeing anyone bring up the lack of long term goals to any of this short term content. and not holding my breath for a dev response.

Based on your comments it doesn't seem like you even read the OP.
