Allow me to back-peddle a bit. I didn't mean to say that you can't beat him as ARC at all, you certainly can beat Ifrit with other setups than the 5 to 6 LNC setup. There are a few problems with ARC, however. The first is that ARC attack animations are longer than those for other classes. (That is once you consider that ARC will be basically doing all weapon skills. Compare those animations to the auto-attack animation from LNC for example.) Arc also cannot take damage as well as other DD classes, those two things combined make ARC extremely difficult to play well in the Ifrit battle. Compound that with not having the other highly recommended skills like Rampart and Sentinal and, well, the ARC is gonna be screwed.

Allow me to rephrase that quote:

I have a single two word phrase for why nobody wants an archer for an Ifrit battle; "animation lock". Simply put, you will die with only ARC to 50.
