I can understand it but you'll have to think that the anima weapon is not an Alexander weapon. They are still two different weapons and people shine the A12S weapons in a different light. The game doesn't work if they only give things to the tiny player base that clears the hardest content, it has to be accessible.
It's more of a time thing, they want the relic players to keep playing their game for many many hours, as a result the reward must be desirable and a glamour would not have the same effect.

You could argue that you don't need to do savage Alex to upgrade shire gear anymore, it's just what happens :/ there'll be something new for raiders to get, then the rest of the players can get it much easier

Thats not even the issue, the problem is that the relic is and will be superior to the raiding weapon. That basically means theres not much point grinding out the raiding weapon lol.

That's an issue with the garbage stats SE ends up with when they dice roll each piece of equipment.

Actually for what it's worth, this isn't the case until the very end of the expansion, with the exception of Gordias, which the devs admitted was a mistake all around. The relic never overtook the Midan weapons, and many raiders have their weapons long before the relic's even hit its final form. There's also the fact that the raid weapon itself is a reward for clearing the raid's final tier to begin with. It just comes to you by doing what you were gonna do in the first place.

There's also this. I'm 99% positive that every serious raider also grinds out relic weapons. I remember back in gordias times, the top raiders on my server, who already had their 210 weapons and chests were holding A1N speedrun parties to grind out their unidentifieds.

The 275 Alexander weapons have been in the game since 3.4. Back then, most "casuals" were locked into getting only the 260 relic or the base 260 Shire weapon after 7 weeks of farming A12. Those who successfully finished A12S could obtain a 275 weapon, and they were able to be top dogs for several months and have the other bonuses rewarded for beating Savage. But this is an online game and there needs be progression. The Alexander weapons are still the most powerful weapons in the game DMG-wise and they will continue to be until ~3.55. And then a few months later everything will go back to square one and we'll all be level jack at the start of Stormblood, and the process will begin anew.

If people want these misguided senses of superiority, they're gonna have to repeatedly earn it because the game needs to progress. I'm fine with people holding the strongest weapons in the game for doing the hardest content, but don't act like your momentary hard work is clearance to hold everyone else back for not submitting to the same idea of fun you cater to.

Lol honestly, FFXIV is the only game that rewards you for doing jack shit. I cannot really think of any other title that ensures that the welfare people are within spitting distance of players who are dedicated. You beat the hardest content, you get the best gear.....except it isn't the best gear. Doesn't this sound wrong?

There really isn't much point to putting up with endgame content unless you enjoy the company of others. The progression is the same, everyone becomes the same or similar in the end. You play to progress the power of your character, everything boils down to this. Why bother with exponential effort for something that becomes easier later?

I mean this was the case in 2.0, and we already knew this was the case in 3.0 since gordias.

So now knowing this, are you going to keep raiding?

Well, I'm more of a minority of raiders. I enjoy the content and mainly do it for the company of the team I'm in. Also, I know with every raid tier I get more competent beyond just simply gear, lots of intangible skill improvements. But my perspective is far from common.

I agree. I love end-game raiding in this game. I don't even get salty if I don't get my Savage gear or weapon loot for months due to RNG, I do it for fun. Getting better as a player, and the friendships.

Mindless grinding a dungeon or two year old content doesn't improve player skill.

Seems you already know the answer to your own question.
