If you're raiding only to get a weapon, then you're already doing it wrong.

You have to beat the hardest content in the game in order to get this weapon, so what is the point of the weapon? The only purpose it serves is to make something you can already do well just a little easier.

That doesn't sound like much of a reward.

Isn't that the point of gearing up?

not really. I gear up so I can actually challenge these instances. But if I can beat it with the gear I'm using, then I don't really need to gear up any further.

At that point, it becomes a choice of whether I want to gear up further (which is obviously unnecessary) or focus on other things.

I believe OP is speaking in a raider's perspective. and TBH, it sounds very self-entitled... Apologies.

SE is a company that has to do their best to accommodates for the majority of players in this game. (Keyword: "Majority"). Please understand from a business standpoint, there are hundred of thousands people that cannot raid since they have IRL priorities, be they job(s), family, commitments. And you cannot force them to put this game above all those thing and spend hours on clearing the endgame savage content. So to keep the retention rates, SE give Non-raiders an alternative route to get gears/weapons. In the form of 24man raids, and relics. No matter how much raiders like us scream and yell for harder contents, locked gears, self entitlements, ect. Those hundred of thousand whispers will still be louder. Sorry, us raiders alone will not be able to finance this game's longevity

But that's not to say they didn't listen to raider's voice. They have given raiders 3 months before non-raider to get i270 gears. There is our 3 months of fame right there. Also, they give us the ability to color Alexandrian Gears and they look different from Proto-type, and a mount!

The anima weapons will be equal or superior to the Alexander weapons for a period of 3-4 months in the period before stormblood launches and everyone starts levelling up and leaving behind their current gear anyway. Any skilled Savage raider will likely have their weapon months in advance and would likely have cleared everything of relevance with it already. In both cases the weapon is going to be replaced by a lvl 65 one in 4 and a half months.

People often don't understand the point of the relic/anima. Its to give more casual players an option for grinding out a high level weapon, trading difficulty for time. The relic takes a monumental amount of time. The current step can be completed in 6-9 hours depending on your luck and if you are constantly requeuing. However the step prior took a hell of a lot longer. 24000 tomstones of lore. That isn't quick to grind through in any situation. The step before that took 9000 lore or 5 weeks of running Crystal Tower. The step before that is another 12000 tomestones and that is post nerf. It was even worse beforehand.

Anima takes a monumental amount of grinding but it provides goals to casual players who aren't interested in the stress of savage raiding. If it was just Glamour the number of people actually bothering with it would be far less and frankly since Glamour is very subjective its very unpredictable wether people would bother with it. Case in point, I have hated every bow anima model till the latest but a BRD in my FC loves all of them.

I've had my Alex Codex i275 for months. But their choice of stats obviously made the 270 anima a better weapon for DPS.

See I did agree with YoshiP on how they changed their anima philosophy after Gordias where they said it's ilevel would not match the raid weapon to give further incentive to raiding. Like the Midan weapons topped at i245, but the anima only went to i240 before the end of 3.3. I personally wouldn't have mind if they actually ended the anima at i270 to be in-line with that.

Time spent grinding an anima/relic really should not match or surpass raid weapons in stat quality (this one always makes us scratch our heads, they just spin the wheel for weapon stats), which are acquired through difficult content in the game, and only one of them drops a week for a raid. Then if you are that unlucky it takes 2 months of clears to buy your own i275.

Relics should be 2x more powerful then the raiding weapons.
Raiders should not even count for the few that spend their lives doing so and for the miniscule income they provide this entire game.

Only unattractive, basement dwellers and (probably virgins) share similar opinions to op.

You know the type that ppl just avoid or feel sorry for irl ...

I don't really care if the relic weapon is decently powerful or whatever, I just wish the quests were better DESIGNED. Totally went downhill after the i80 step, IMO. Overabuse of reusing content and an unfun timesink that is known to test even the most loyal of players. Hopefully the Eureka area or whatever it is in 4.0 will be a lot more engaging of a quest series.

I actually do this as I have a degree in social work and do case manager work. IRl stuff really has nothing to do with video game entitlements.
