Help with people that run/jump around erratically

I'm struggling to stay in melee range on players that are contantly on the run.
Or if they don't constantly move can go mobile if they need to. Like for instant astro with lightspeed or the instant cast heal/shield.

I use weaponthrow when they use sprint and that helps.

It's just that If someone starts running away all of a sudden or run in a different direction since we all move at the same speed, they often get out of range.

Once they are out of range being they just have to keep running and they are perfectly safe from everything except shield lob/ tomahawk.

Unless I have reflexes as fast as a third of a second being melee is frustrating. There's no shoulder tackle or spinshatter jump or dragonfire dive for warrior. No way to get back in range to hit them if they just run run run.

Getting snappy on your weapon throws is a good start, but the best counter-measure to an erratic running/sprinting target is to use your own sprint and utilize lock-on effectively. I used to have sprint on one designated hotbar, before I started PvP. Once I got into it, I duplicated Sprint on multiple hotbars in the exact same position, so that I could always pop it at a moment's notice. As soon as I see my target hit sprint, I hit sprint too. If they start dashing around all over the place, I'll snap them into lock-on so that my avi will always automatically face them. It crimps your movements a bit, which takes some getting used to, but it helps if they're very fluid in their jukes. You just have to be very fast with your lock ons and lock offs, because the last thing you want is to accidentally glue yourself to one target when you need to run for your life or suddenly change to someone else.

Another thing to consider is the deft use of Holmgang or a stun. Both of those, if applied quick enough, will completely shut down a target's sprint timer. The only problem with them is that there are consequences to using them. Using a stun will reduce the targets CC resistance. If you blow all 3 stuns, then their resist timer is activated, which could be a problem if you ever find a need to shut them down for a prolonged period of time (such as if you need to prevent enemy healing by keeping them stun locked). Holmgang has a moderately long CD timer, so it's usually saved for when you are confident you will score the kill, but utility can sometimes trump kill potential, so you have to take it on a case by case basis.

Februs' suggestion of "multi sprint" is a great one & is what I use. I play with a cross bar but every job, including crafting & gathering, has sprint in exactly the same place. As a result it's natural to run as a defence mechanism, I don't even think about it - it just seems to happen.

That's pretty much the trade off with warrior. You get fairly high damage output, lots of defensive cooldowns, crazy self healing and... godawful mobility. Holmgang, while great, can be purified, and its very tempting to do so. Its just so much fun to run around with that tether for 6 seconds while the warrior is rooted in place xD Ive also noticed that if a warrior holms me while I'm sprinting it often doesn't pull me all the way into melee range.

Bunny hopping used to be a major exploit and was supposedly fixed, but I think it does still interfere with lock-on target. Idk. I find it hard to believe people do it just to be cute.

I still do this mainly because its 10years old habit so its cool if it still works but if not meh i dont care i still do it. Atleast jumping still screws spineshatter and plunge so it still has it uses(plunge really needs a stun effect even if its 1 or 2secs).

Unfortunately a lot of people still do it & it can get tiresome. However, as you say, it has its uses.

I really only jump around and towards the healer so they can't spot me fast seeing in need hp. Works a lot for me.

I find the best way to deal with player mobility as a WAR is to Mythril Tempest a handful of them right off a cliff as they fight for a small ice. Can't be too mobile splattered all over the ground...

ASTs are annoying with their mobility. This job should be nerfed a little bit more.
