The biggest issue is that a physical connection (ie, the Ivalice of the Ivalice Alliance games = a physical location on Hydaelyn) contradicts pretty much everything we know about the history (and geography) of both, and also contradicts some very clear and definitive statements by Yoshida on the matter. A brief crossover is one thing, especially given that those tend to be of dubious "canon"; outright stating the world of the two games is one and the same is quite another. I don't think it's impossible, but I do think it would be done at the cost of some of XIV's own unique identity, and I'd rather let it be its own world than simply be shuffled into another.
