Are there any omens traditional to FFXIV?

Was running over some ideas in regards to class mechanics or effects based on traditional signs or omens, but I haven't been able thus far to infer any that would be widely present in XIV.

Anyone know of any divinable oracle signs or even just superstitions present in Eorzea?

Eh... if you're asking about superstitions like the one from FFXI, which compelled crafters to face certain ordinal positions when synthesising an item, then, no, not as far as I'm aware of.

It would be bizarre, to say the least, if such superstitions exist. But, hey, we live in a post-truth world, and play a game where one could summon a giant chocolate-bunny primal, if one believes in it strongly enough.

Mostly just looking for divinable signs, etc., that might have been given any mention as omens of hardship, luck, or anything around or between, as these tend to be prevalent in many RPGs but seem fairly absent here in XIV as far as I've seen.

Well, there is superstition mentioned concerning Nymeia the Spinner the Goddess of fate and destiny, in that Eorzeans use the term "the Spinner's Luck' in much the same way in our own world we use the phrase "Lady Luck", and connected to that, there appears to also be an old adage in Eorzea warning about placing one's faith in Nymeia's blessing, in that, like luck, Her favour is rather fickle.

Incidentally, Louisoix's Journals were essentially a meta and in-universe form of prophecy regarding the events of both ARR and the patch and expansion storylines, a tradition which began with Mezaya Thousand-Eyes' prophecy about Dalamud and the approaching Seventh Umbral Era... which was mostly ignored until it was too late. So divination definitely plays a very important role in Eorzea (to say nothing of AST using the stars to divine future events and especially the Ishgardian branch of astromancy tracking the movement of the stars to possibly determine future attacks by Nidhogg and the Dravanian Horde. ).

Lewphon, somehow, managed to scientifically prove the art of foretelling possible future events is not superstition but fact, which is why the Sharlayan Astrologians do, from time to time, have some inkling about how future events will unfold. The issue is separating what may be, from what will be. Granted one could argue that the Alexander raid more or less forced events up until its conclusion to be written in stone, as it created a paradox. Even Alexander, however, can see the infinite future possibilities, and try to determine which ones are not only most likely, but which are best for the world. Not to spoiler the raid for anyone who hasn't finished it, but given that its been a few months...

You basically learn Alexander looked at how things play out depending on who wins in the grand scheme. Not just you vs. the Illuminati, but the Paragons, Dragons, etc... Basically every possible future from Garlemald winning to Eorzea winning and people like Lolorito gaining power, etc...

I think the point here is that it is possible to glimpse possible futures, but those futures need to be actively shaped (now that Alexander has removed itself from the equation).

Only omen I know is from 1.0. In Limsa Lominsa when Seal Rock was found and a giant sea serpent started its rampage, people believed the island to be the place where Lymlaen sealed the sea serpent, and its appeareance was thought to be the end of the world, for the sea to swallow all.

It turned out to be... Allag military base, again
