Precisely. I see no issue with balancing instances and open world NMs. Everyone gets a little bit of what they want.I found this in less than 39seconds:

As was pointed out, a lot of people actually miss the FFXI camping days. I appreciate that camping for 3 hours wasn't for everyone, but I think it's a mistake to reduce it to irrelevance.
camping in ffxiv with the lag could be a bad idea unless they put a 10 second delay on claiming. people closer to the servers would have an advantagePrecisely. I see no issue with balancing instances and open world NMs. Everyone gets a little bit of what they want.

they did this on XI with claim block. Random block between 1.5secs and 3 secs after it spawned (server time) before it could be claimed and attempting to claim would put your ability on cooldown even if it failed.
Server latency seems to be around 1/2 sec or very slightly over it for most ppl. So the same claim block system should work.
I'd agree with that. There should be a claim delay, as was implemented in XI. Maybe not 10 seconds, but a sufficient delay that gives everyone a shot at claim. In fact, it would be best if the delay varied, again like in XI.
