There's multiple dungeons in the .dats already developed that they're not using. They could easily open one up and fill it full of mobs and chests like Sposhae. It doesn't have to be developed overnight, it's already done.

I wouldn't mind new NMs. Not like they'll do more 21+ hour spawns.

i'm guessing there is a reason for them not releasing them, its not like they want us to pay subs next month, so why give us content? (wonder if my sarcasm field was activated) no be seriously whatever there reason for not giving us dungeons shouldn't stop them giving us new NMs, if only from a programmers point of view

@thefathouscat, i can see what you mean and too a degree i agree. but the world would be very empty if this was the devs thoughts on NMs

Something like Ifrit, while hard, isn't extremely challenging, and it's gotten monotonous after the 3rd week of farming. At this point I'm sure most people are only killing it because some players are getting boned by the ridiculous loot system.

Either way, it seems like I'm the minority in this anyways, which is fine. But I just don't want to see time (however short) put into something that won't really see much attention in the end.
Are you new to the game?

    1. People farmed NM's (which you would call trash NM's) for months.
    2. These took just as long to kill as Ifrit did.
    3. Both get monotonous after a certain point of farming.
    4. Farming 1 thing has (just by sheer logic) to be more monotonous than farming multiple things.

Adding new NM's, helps give those at endgame a variety of goals no matter how much "trash" they are. Which by the way is ridiculous, they don't have to be trash encounters just because they don't have unique triggers what a crock of WoW-logic. Mobs in this game have plenty of interesting abilities I'd like to see put in an endgame encounter at their most powerful.

I can think of many examples from MMO's where recycled mob types have made better examples of endgame encounters than some gimmicky fight where you can't step on the blue fire.

I think killing the Great Buffalo before their nerf (breaking the horns for drops) was a more fulfilling and challenging accomplishment than it is now killing Ifrit with 8.

We have literally nothing to do at endgame other than a single encounter, and you don't want them to add anything unless it conforms to your ridiculously out of place expectations for content at this point in the game.

Take Deepvoid Slave, that mini-boss was just a renamed ogre who if you take away the ghosts (which most people pretty much ignored in their strats until 1.19) did nothing special. Well at that level he still had a powerful frontal, aoe, and rage ability. He may not be an experience defining encounter, but consider for a second that the sheer accomplishment of killing Ifrit may have retained a bit of its relevance if by necessity we hadn't exclusively farmed his ass for 2 months.

90% of my Experience points since October have come from "Ifrit Bleeds, We can kill it!". So yeah... I miss "trash NM's" like Dodore/Great Buffalo/Aldgoat/Bloatbelly. Several of which honestly are more difficult mechanically than Ifrit despite the fact they are just bigger/more powerful versions of normal mobs.

Other mobs currently in the game (like all the ones named on this thread) have abilities already which would pose at least an obstacle when raised high enough.

These abilities could be tweaked in minor ways, that would not extend the development time prohibitively and still allow them to give them to us before 1.21. This thread is simply asking for them to give us something more at endgame... if you are fine with nothing for 3 months then keep it to yourself.
You're overreacting just a tad. It was initially a harmless comment and you went off the rails.

Your attitude sucks. Nadia has shown incredible restraint in being as polite as she has, considering the way you have addressed her. You seem to have an inferiority complex, given the way you fly off the handle whenever you're confronted with someone from a so-called 'elite' linkshell.

Remove that chip from your shoulder.

Due to recent fixes none of those NMs are nearly as difficult as they used to be, unfortunately. Dodore and Great Buffalo are both easily doable with a light party. And, they weren't more difficult than Ifrit even at their original release, I believe the first kills occurred within 3 days? Even if Ifrit's main gimmick is animation lag, it still took almost a week to defeat initially, and even then it took a few more days to kill consistently enough to be farmed.

Other mobs currently in the game (like all the ones named on this thread) have abilities already which would pose at least an obstacle when raised high enough.

I would be perfectly happy with an NM that looked similar to a current mob, that had similar (but beefed-up) abilities and some nifty catch (ex. Bogeys) that made it more than a tank n' spank. I really don't know why you're getting so aggressive :I As I said before, if I'm the minority and we end up getting giant Pudding NM that isn't challenging then cool story, I'll just work to make sure my LS gets the first kill and then wait till something cooler comes out.

I was never shooting down anyone's idea, a Pudding NM would be hilarious; and as long as it was more of a challenge than high HP then I absolutely wouldn't mind it being in the game.

Are you new to the game?

    1. That's completely dependent on the drop rate of whatever item said NM offers. That I farmed Uraeus for months doesn't mean it was fun for the entire duration of those months.
    2. No, they didn't.
    3. Yes, they do! Point being how long it takes for something to become boring and monotonous. If it takes us longer to figure out how to kill something (ie. THE MORE CHALLENGING THAT IT IS), we're less likely to be bored of it quickly.
    4. Farming anything is monotonous, period. Taking weeks to figure out how to kill something because it's challenging, however, is entertaining.

I never played WoW :I So I'm sorry to say I have no idea what you're implying with 'WoW-logic'. You're right, there are some interesting abilities out there, and it would be cool to see them implemented in a high-level setting where they could do some real damage and pose a real challenge. I was never arguing against that, I just don't want an NM that's easy to beat. It's that simple. If I have list of NMs to kill to achieve certain item/achievement/etc. goals at the end of the day, I would rather that they're all difficult and fun to kill. In fact, even if the new NMs are boring and easy kills, they would at least make the world look a tad more colorful, like grandm said previously.

Hahaha, okay well how about you go do that and let us have content now because not all of us are out to be masochists in the name of elitism.
I see nothing wrong with being a masochist in the name of elitism :I

ANYWAYS, apologies that this response got so long and heated. New high-level NMs (that are hard to beat!) {Yes, please}.

I'd still rather have NM, contested, pop, whatever just something for me to aim for aside from Dark Moogle.

You don't even have to design a new model just make an enlarged version of an existing one. Something like a pudding, ogre, couerl, crab, or vulture. We just need more goals to aim for, and content to do.

NM's are perfect for this as they don't take a long time to develop for the amount of time people can spend killing them.
i like how some people blame there slow PCs on server lag lol. They will never give us new WORLD HNMs/NMs it seems boss they dont want us to play this game and have fun.

What does (that are hard to beat) mean? If Ifrit isn't really challenging, and neither were Darkhold so what is the standard for something to justify its existence in "endgame"? We are talking about FFXIV, where we still don't even have alliance content in the game, and likely won't until after 2.0.

Doing the Great Buffalo or doing Ifrit isn't too different. The Dark Moogle fight could be the "most challenging" fight yet, and even still it won't last two months if that is all we have to do. I would rather have NM fights that are quickly thrown together now, than wait until February to do anything else.

Masochism for the sake of elitism refers to your wanting nothing but a single encounter until February unless it conforms to rather silly self proclaimed notions of what makes a fight difficult being "It takes more than 72 hours of attempts to kill". If it took us in FFXI as many attempts to kill HNM as it did some shells in FFXIV to kill Ifrit I'm not sure they would all have been killed by now.

I want much more complex fights, than currently exist. Someday, as soon as it is possible for them to deliver this.

I have extremely high standards for what might be my ideal endgame fights, but I think that NM's which only have more powerful versions of existing abilities can absolutely pose a sufficient challenge to grant drops or materials equal to the current endgame gear (especially since most of that is crafted from sheep and common grade 5 mining nodes).

Can't we at least get these basic NM in game now: when we don't even have a replacement for BR, when we still don't have jobs or the finalized battle system which apparently Matsui feels are necessary to even design encounters on par with his expectations; so that we don't have to bash our heads against nothing but moogles for 2 months?
