It is just annoying as hell .I've playin FFXIV since launch in a i7-2670QM 2.20GHz, 8GB RAM and a Nvidia520MX with 1024mb VRAM at medium-high settings, with no problems, running around 25-30 fps.

Now, Stormblood I won't be able even to play it. Just... great.

Why this fucking high jump? Game won't be able to run if detects you don't meet the requirements.

Can always try. But those aren't spectacular specs on the GPU to begin with, even when it released.

Minimum specs are usually "What does it take to run the game at an acceptable performance that gives the player an enjoyable experience?"

Anything less than that may run it, but it wont be up to par (in general)

My laptop is an i7 with a GT330m, and while it did play heavensward at acceptable (read, barely) framerates with everything at minimum at 1368x720, it certainly wasnt what I'd call an enjoyable experience.

Can we have a developer say anything about this? They have not announced a benchmark even with this huge of a jump.

Guess it wasn't just the ps3 holding things back. But in seriousness, just do a quick upgrade, you don't need a GTX1070 or 1080, just throw a 980 in your rig and you should be fine. Honestly speaking having a 1080 in my rig does nothing for this game as it doesn't even come close to using that much power, I don't really think this much of a jump unless of course you'd need to do a cpu and gpu upgrade.

For notebook users it's waaaaaaaaaay more complex than that, since we can't upgrade single parts of the system.

I would never use a notebook for gaming anyways and this is one of the reasons.

Yes, but people do and a lot of players mainly play in notebooks and SE, as a company wanting to make money from a new expansion, should release a benchmark. No laptop players are complaining about the changes, we just want a benchmark to be sure about how the game runs and take action if it doesn't run well.

Value-wise, they tend to be worse than desktop equivalents, but there are many configurations available that can handle this game (and many others) just fine. Especially with more power efficient architectures released these past couple years (e.g. Nvidia's Pascal) laptops today are much more attractive options than their ~2011-2015 counterparts.

The GTX1080 for laptops, for example, has 2560 cores just like the desktop version.
The GTX980M just one generation prior, had to compromise with only 1536 cores, compared to the desktop version's 2048.

Looking at the lower end, the GTX1050 Ti for laptops is actually faster than the desktop version.

Upgradability remains a weak point, but they aren't as gimped on performance as they used to be.

The jump of specs is huge for this game. I mean the specs they are asking for this kind of game are those of a modern AAA game. The Witcher 3 for example has minimum specs of i5 2500K and GTX660 / HD7870 while Stormblood minimum specs asks for i5 and GTX750. It's crazy. Not to mention the RAM. While my rig is way more powerful than this I scracth my head with those specs for a game that it's graphics and technical requirements are very low in comparison with a heavy modern AAA game. Unless Stormblood has a significant graphical upgrade (which judging for the few screenshots they gave on Fan Fests is highly unlikely) the specs listed are crazy and wrong. Why an i5 for min when an i3 can run this game perfectly close to 60fps out of town.
