Name Day/ Birthday?

Aw dont say that, I like the idea of birthday/nameday (whatever they want to call it) and the diety option. It gives it the FF Tactics feel to the game, I just wish the idea has somewhere to go and IS NOT scrapped @2.0

Agreed. I like the whole 'real' feel to it.. though I not an RP type of person, but it's interesting. I like to know what my signs mean and of course my birthday. I think it would be awesome if there was more to this feature. A birthday cake would be nice... of even a present of some sort. I think it would be cool to get 50% more EXP on your birthday.

Also, does the game time show days? I haven't really check, I know it have time of day, but not sure if it actually lists the month and time in game.

Agreed.

I've long wished that it was possible to establish some sort of relationship with my Goddess of choice, Azeyma. Maybe after this restructuring of Eorzea, some of the lost temples will be rediscovered allowing us to run leves, or just turn in special items related to our Goddess to improve our devotion (faction) and receive favorable treatment (+Guardian's Favor, increased Guardian's Favor capacity, 3 hour buffs, etc.)

The original team had plans for it do....something. I can't remember what they said.

Long story short, it doesn't do anything, and will probably be removed in 2.0

Through everything I've read, they'll definitely do something about it, I'd assume that's under currently the condition that XIV-2.0 succeeds.

It was part of Tanaka's ff14, since we're being ushered into the Yoshida ff14....

not necessarily, even if it does nothing, there is no reason to get rid of it either. Think of it as another way of defining your character as yours.

This one's kind of a clusterf**k, but I do recall a discussion about it. Back in the day this discussion took place, Square Enix was still not really doing or saying anything that would admit, "Yes. We sold you a game that only had 10% of the content it was supposed to have and we hoped we could patch more in before you were ready for it."

The effects of Guardian/Nameday were among the things not in at launch; and compared to EVERYTHING ELSE we were missing, they weren't a priority for addition, either.

Their bonuses were simple. EXP boost, unique buffs, little gift from your retainer or moogle or whatever gave you your mail. Guardian had a unique part of it that wasn't part of the discussion, though.

Also keep in mind that time passes differently in the game. You'd be having a Nameday every 18 days, 16 hours.
(This is how long an Eorzean year lasts.)

Yoshida's plans as pertains to abandon this or not? I doubt he'd get rid of anything that'd make you feel closer to your character.
