I disagree unless there is something I'm missing.
The problem isn't about training for ranked.
I'm not the only one who may think that they only did this because of the GARO event. It would be a poorly and horribly received event by the vocal minority if they were being pelted with things that PvPers put up with daily. Furthermore, the developers are going to use this time to look at the PVP community and see how everyone reacts, take notes on everything they see in-game and on the forums, then maybe decide if it should be kept this way.
Hoping they will revert the change any time soon is a forlorn hope, but a hope nonetheless.
"I really can't tolerate this event because every time I want to do it, everyone is yelling at me!"
"This is the worse event ever because the community doesn't understand I'm doing this just for the event!"
"I wish I could win 60 Feast games for the mount and never have to participate in this horror ever again! Such a terrible idea, feeding us to these wolves!"
This is being spun out of proportion for something that can be solved without much effort - simply, people should not be PvPing if they can't handle the inner furies of the everyday chat box. Since that isn't an option for whatever reason, we are where we are now.
The root of the problem has always been that individuals try to do things they know they shouldn't be doing.
No amount of solutions can protect people who are made of glass.
