Ok I think I know a purely beneficial way to block those RMT party invites

In the Blacklist make it so you can block anyone, even characters that haven't been made yet, by simply inputting a universal name to block. For example, if you put ABC in your "Universal Blacklist" then anyone with ABC in their name (just like that, not everyone with those letters in general in their name, I.E. ABCjack = blocked and Abaca = not blocked) will be blocked by you. You could also be more specific to better not block innocents, but good luck to the advertiser to try getting around that

In the unlikely event it DOES block an innocent (which it shouldn't if you only use it for this purpose as blocking them too means they are probably helping them and/or shouldn't have a name like that anyway) simply add them to your Friend List if you wish to not have that innocent blocked too.

Personally I'd say just let us block invites from players under a certain level. The ones leveled are used for farming the gil and those are not ones they want to risk being banned as it takes time even if it is automated. So if they had to level bots for farming and spreading the word, perhaps it will work out better? Or at least put a dent into them cus I can't seem them leveling it to 50 (or 60/70) just to party invite spam.

The quickest fix for RMT bots is to throttle both player searching and party invites. Make it so you can only perform a single search every five seconds, so it only returns a max of 25 results, and so you can't search for blanks. If you do that, and then make it so trials can only send out one invite every 30 seconds, it will vastly cut down on the ability of RMT bots to annoy us.

It would be nice to be able to wildcard the blacklist and it would help. I still think the better way is to allow players to set themselves not searchable and to allow us to decide what level of invites we want to see. Check boxes like friends list only, ignore FC or ignore others could cover a wide range not just shutting down RMT sellers. It really shouldn't take much to implement as all they should need to do is check the setting in the players profile before displaying the name in search results or invite popup.

So after some discussion in my server's Novice Network I figured out this wouldn't work either. Seems the only real way to stop the party inviter is to give us a status that blocks only party invites. Besides Square Enix frequenting the places these spammers stand at it's our best bet at this point.

How about just letting us report players who invite us to party, invite to FC, request a trade or triple triad match, etc? You can't open the new report interface on a name that appears in your chat box due to a request, you can only blacklist them.

The dev team on this game REALLY needs to just think through all the scenarios when they add a system to the game so that it doesn't lead to harassment or have obvious loopholes. If I can click a name, and blacklist is an option, then report should be an option as well. Simple.

Why would any new player need to do a player search anyway?

Make it so that if you qualify for the NA Sprout, you cannot do any player searches. Or (though this would eliminate any real ability for Mentors to invite to the NN) do away with the Player search entirely. Look at who is in party, sure. Beyond that, no real need for it other than Mentors looking for Sprouts.

or how about if you block someone using the rmt report all characters attached to that account can't /tell you. Personally I think they should fix the rmt report button to block all chat from your window. Kind of annoying to see a male hyur spamming rmt in /say or /shout and when you go to block them they can still flood your chat. If we can start with that then we can progress.
