Requesting more Voice Acting!

It's no different in the US. Unless you don't think VAs like Troy Baker, Laura Bailey, or Nolan North (all of whom have done work with swtor at one time or another) have fans. And it's also localized in several languages. What I believe to be the real issue is scheduling.

Sure, they have fans, but it doesn't really compare as VA fandom in Japan is on a wholly different level. The highest profile ones have idol status akin to rock stars. But you're probably right about scheduling, as VA's in Japan are extremely busy doing a lot more than just voice acting.

I listen to the Japanese audio and their voices are awesome.

Liam O'Brien is my favorite voice actor (next to crispen freeman). If he ever does Aymerics voice I may lose it....

Yda's English voice is amazing in my honest opinion... That alone is what draws me to it - though I do agree that some ENG voices are pretty average..

On topic though, I personally think that "enough" cut-scenes are voiced. All of the really meaningful ones are - and the ones that aren't often have reasonably bland dialogue aside from the odd witty remark..

Voice acting is prohibitively expensive compared to the costs of many other elements of development. This is why it is used very sparingly at present.

I don't know about expensive, but FFXIV's voice acting is quite cringe worthy in its badness at times. There are definitely a few bright spots here and there, but most of the voice acting is pretty sub-par unfortunately. I'd rather they not increase the frequency of it if they don't also increase the quality of it.

There is one major problem about "more Voice Acting" that I never see anyone talk about : your character's name. Each time your name or surname is going to appear in a scene they will not be able to add voice and I like seeing my name, I don't want to be known/introduced/talked about as "a friend" or "the Warrior of Light" for the rest of the game.

It's a WWII term to insult the Japanese and the Imperial Army.

There exists a lot of common use terms that some religion/country/subset of population in their own region will found offensive because they are in their dialet or were in their past history.

Not everyone that write English in forum is an American that knows how American army people called the Japanese army in their history of WW2.

Then, as long as history were called, the term were not offensive at all, and later became so because the war between the U.S. and Japan.

I think the guy that called for "racism" and so on, overreacted and did not taken account this is an international forum.

And, nailing to the topic, this is also an example of how difficult is making text for international purpose. You will found a number of hilarious (and not) names given by innocent companies to their products, but resulted in high embarassment when exported
