Get the developers to voice the non-important NPCs?![]()

Liam O'Brien is my favorite voice actor (next to crispen freeman). If he ever does Aymerics voice I may lose it....
But I'm sure it'll be different actors because of licenses correct?
I listen to the English one. I would love more voice acting only if it wasn't so expensive >.<"

Japanese
GeneralEach rank has its own set pay. For example, “A” rank seiyuu are paid 45,000 yen (about $443) for one 30-minute anime episode. Above “A” Rank are “No Rank” seiyuu who can set their own price. For example, voice actress Kaneda Tomoko revealed that she gets paid approximately 30,000 yen (about $295) for one anime episode.
Usually, voice-over artists are paid per job. They can make anywhere from $20 to a couple hundred dollars for just an hour of work. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, though, radio and television announcers made an average salary of $40,510 in 2011 and actors made roughly $33.82 per hour.

Yda's English voice is amazing in my honest opinion... That alone is what draws me to it - though I do agree that some ENG voices are pretty average..
On topic though, I personally think that "enough" cut-scenes are voiced. All of the really meaningful ones are - and the ones that aren't often have reasonably bland dialogue aside from the odd witty remark..
Frankly, they should keep doing voice acting and improve its direction. I don't want to have a completely silent game on pure text just so it can use some name I given a character. I'd just play a Nintendo game if I wanted that.

Yes please, more VO would be lovable!

I definetly want more voice acting too! Would prefer if we would stick completely to english or japanese... There is no real reason for other languages. Its so sad that sidestories and cutscenes which appear in job quests, hildibrand, scholisticate quests, etc dont really have a proper effect. All this huge wall texts to click through and all those unnecessary talks... It would ease us players and enjoyers so much with hearing them talk.

I'm of the other opinion. Personally I grew up playing rpgs like final fantasy and frankly all of the reading was actually a good thing for me. It is underestimated how much reading you do in a game like that because it is not in book form. However, it is no less relevant of an experience in terms of reading. There are many that play mmo-rpgs thata re simply in it for the endgame experience. It saddens me to see how many people brag about skipping every cutscene and never reading anything in game. Final fantasy is about the story. Poor acting can kill a story. Given the high likelihood of poor voice acting, I would much rather read and apply my own intonation to it than listen to an underpaid overworked voice actor who has probably read for 20 different characters that day.

What if the text referred to you by name but the VO had an adjustment made that it referred to you as "our friend" or "the warrior of light"? Could that make for a suitable compromise?
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

either that or the actor making a slight pause where the name would go (as some Otome games have) would be acceptable for me.
I'd absolutely love to hear more voice acting going forward, and I'd love it even more if they'd go back and add voice acting to older scenes that lack it. I realize that would pose a problem for the English track since the cast has changed (and I'd put money on there being casting changes for Stormblood as well), but the other three shouldn't suffer for that.
