I'm of the other opinion. Personally I grew up playing rpgs like final fantasy and frankly all of the reading was actually a good thing for me. It is underestimated how much reading you do in a game like that because it is not in book form. However, it is no less relevant of an experience in terms of reading. There are many that play mmo-rpgs thata re simply in it for the endgame experience. It saddens me to see how many people brag about skipping every cutscene and never reading anything in game. Final fantasy is about the story. Poor acting can kill a story. Given the high likelihood of poor voice acting, I would much rather read and apply my own intonation to it than listen to an underpaid overworked voice actor who has probably read for 20 different characters that day.
