The Feast is SO much better without chat

Here we have a problem . I'm not against new feast ppl who give their opinion about the argument but, if u didn't experience something 100% you can't have an objective opinion , let me explain : ofc some people never played a single game diamond/plat tier so they don't know how comunication is needed , this is the same as the op ,he is in gold tier and probably he didn't experience yet higher tier fights . People with over 1000 games played , diamond rank players , these people can discuss about all the aspects good/bad about this argument.. i say this because ive'seen a lot of new feast ppl unranked/bronze who says nahhh no need comunication in the feast.. But it's like they didn't play a single real game yet.

of course they're citing their personal experiences, what else would they do? why would you expect them to tolerate being treated poorly, regardless of how infrequently it happens? why should they care about preserving a 'community' when their only interactions with that community are wildly negative?

Just because a handful of people have a negative experience does not mean an entire community should be dismantled.

When a regular ranks up late in the season, it isn't uncommon for them to be 90% until Platinum. Season 2 I was brand new, started late, and was 80% until I got to top 20. I was also playing tank, the role that matters the least. Realize you were facing healers that are only there because if the event... Or healers that are still bronze-silver. That requires a 20% winrate.

Actually thanks to this event, not 100% true. Was a Gold tank in season 1, and did not get into feast in seasons 2 and 3 at the start. Came back now as the ques are back. Now in the week worked up from 0 to silver. From this experience I would say we have a real mix of people in the low teirs right now. Including some very good healers, and some dps I remember from the Gold ranks back in season one. Still a 70% win rate as a tank, you have some just bad matches sometimes of people that are newer, but you get others ones where you like, damn, that healer is unranked and they knew how to counter everything.

Just want to add, I think people are truly overstating the number of negative experiences with other people in the chat. In the over 500 matches I have played, which included players at all skills levels (I consider myself a mid-skill level player) the number of times I have seen actual verbal abuse in the chat is less then the number of times I have gotten feeders there for the tomes.

No, Feast is not better off without the chat.

I ran few matches on girlfriend's character post-patch (she's silver, I'm diamond this season). Couldn't tell people that they can build stacks on boxes, couldn't tell the MNK they shouldn't be repeatedly taking those 3 to 7 stacks over a tank. Couldn't tell my team that there's MNK and WAR both less than half-health, attacking me more than half the arena's distance away from their healer, come finish them off. Couldn't tell the bard that this is a good moment to top up my MP using PVP ability called Mana Song (hello nonexistent PVP tutorial), couldn't tell my team that we're in a lead with 30 seconds left on the clock, don't break off alone and get killed - back up.

I can't think of another change in my time playing this game that has been so profoundly disheartening, so profoundly shit.

A pretty common misconception. Those healers are probably not that good, the dps are just horrible. Besides the point though

After playing FFXIV for around 3 years I am just getting into PvP. It has never interested me before but those horse mounts... I will admit that I am generally a weak willed human who would prefer constructive criticism over "omg you suck" (I had multiple friends tell me that people can get cruel fairly quickly.) Then this same friend told me that they removed chat from PvP. At first I thought to myself, "oh that's great I don't have to worry about turds being turds." I WAS VERY WRONG. I wish we had chat, I have no idea what I should be really doing as a summoner in pvp. My teams are usually all over the map and even though I lack experience I feel that we should be moving together. I've tried to google what I should be doing there are too many different opinions about PvP to get a straight answer. I would rather a team tell me a different strategy every match than not know at all! So from one gentle snowflake to another....we need the chat in PvP.

Topic OP saying that Feast is much better now because no sarcastic remarks, flaming or trolling.. but forgets to take into account that trolling occurs even with new system because team members who become tired of playing with you spam 'Nice Job' whilst running into enemy team repeatedly until they die.

In spirit of the thread, I must completely agree that the change is a good one whilst also suggesting that to prevent further trolling in Feast, players should not be allowed to move their character at all so they are also unable to willingly feed.

Every match can be a tie and everyone will be at the same level. No one is better than the other and no one is higher ranked than someone else. It works in our favour since people can't tell you you're any better or worse than they are, we'd all be the same.

The perfect solution - so our next discussion can be about what's going to take the place of the Feast ranking board since we'll no longer need it.
