I think this thread is showing why we got this chat ban
Wrong, this thread is showing people debating a subject both sides feel passionate and justified about.
People disagree, people argue. Restricting means to do so doesn't solve the problem, it merely forces people to withhold tensions and either vent elsewhere, or worse, act on them.
If restricting the chat was the proper fix for this, then what answer would you have for all the new people who have no means to ask questions and learn during a match? Or the veterans who are forced to stay silent and allow avoidable mistakes to go uncorrected?

Well naming and shaming someone who trys to put forward the alteritive view kinda reinforces the issues that have lead to SE taking the action they have. It is a very lazy action to take but then given that it is a very minor game mode they probably don't want to put the resources in that would be needed to sort out the toxicity.Wrong, this thread is showing people debating a subject both sides feel passionate and justified about.

all SE did was screw up no fix it cause frankly with everyone able to see the person full name and what realm their from people will just make a character there and then chew them out on being bad in pvp for doing stupid nothing or whatever reason and end with themselves with reports like crazy.Well naming and shaming someone who trys to put forward the alteritive view kinda reinforces the issues that have lead to SE taking the action they have. I mean myself there a few I gotten in match's who are really bad and then get them again a match or two later and their ten times better then when they were on my team and quite frankly since can't say anything I'm about to start spamming out GM reports on these people.
Ah if only. Sometimes that's true. There's a lot of actual flaming, barely civil enough to not invoke GM wrath. And in the feast before the chat ban, it was the sort of stuff GMs would take action about. And that's probably why SE did it... if anything it taking up a lot of GM time or is otherwise disruptive, they 'fix' it. Regrettable, but so it goes. I do miss the times I was actually able to coordinate some strategy, when the people that spam "Nice Job!" now would allow it...
In a way, though, it's terribly, terribly ironic that people can't clean up their chat(/posts) long enough to even ask for the restrictions thereby invoked to be lifted...
Well that would be some pretty hefty abuse and you would hope they'd get there account banned for that.all SE did was screw up no fix it cause frankly with everyone able to see the person full name and what realm their from people will just make a character there and then chew them out on being bad in pvp for doing stupid nothing or whatever reason and end with themselves with reports like crazy.
Well here is the thing, i know why you said jameseoakes is wrong but I really think this point is being missed, especially when no one responded to it. A LOT, I seen a lot of this, toxicity happens because a person is trying to make a request or teach something simple, like " You really do need esuna for that debuff it does a lot of damage" , you know because some people, practically new players can easily overlook how much damage some of the dots do in this game, then pulls out the " do not tell me ho to play" nonsense. Even the this thread maker did it in a way:Wrong, this thread is showing people debating a subject bothsides feel passionate and justified about.

What I said went on deaf ears, I can't believe it, so yeah at that point you have to wonder if people like this topic maker are asking for it and provoking such toxic words to be exchanged out of refusal to pull their weight while thinking they are doing well enough. If this was the logic of removing chat from feast then ALL DUTY FINDER CHAT needs to be removed, stop singling out PvP feast because it is easier to do without mass backlash because there is not enough GMs to handle all the complaints in the game. (I am sure a live fest post of asking about PvE chat being removed would got 500+ likes, they just singled out the smallest audience, all it is)
I started posting on these forums specifically because I was appalled over this change.

Nobody seems to notice all the vitriolic pro-ban posts that are being reported and deleted too, eh? And nobody tries to respect the viewpoint of anti-ban, civil, calm posters either.
Overreaction in general is what led to a mass gag order like this to begin with - on BOTH sides.
I hate that there's no chat option anymore. How am I supposed to tell the people with 10 medals to not stay in melee range of everyone? I see it happen so often in the feast that its not funny. I can't tell them to clear their dots with Purify, or even that pvp abilities exist! Back in the past when I would mention pvp abilities, there were a large number of people who didn't know about them. How am I supposed to give them tips now? Like when to purify their debuffs?
I used to tell people, that when they see the little clock on them, or a red shield icon in their debuffs, or a rainbow circle, to purify them, because they're about to make you take a lot of damage.

I've seen this point raised several times and I feel it needs to be properly addressed:
Whether big or small, if it's in game and there are issues with it, it requires a proper fix. Fishing glitches, Skybears, stationary raid bosses that can suddenly be knocked back, harrassment issues, exploits, etc. . . The size of the matter doesn't absolve SE of dealing with it properly. It may not warrant immediate change, but that doesn't mean it can be overlooked or brushed aside.
On a separate note, I don't condone naming and shaming except in the most heinous of cases (PvP hardly being one of them), and I'm certainly not attacking your words on the matter, and I hope I haven't caused such a misunderstanding. I'm simply speaking up where I feel it's necessary.
