Now you just have to use 20+ hotbar spaces to attempt to convey a message that'll more likely then not go ignored (because considered spam if you link to many quick chats together) or fail somewhere in translation due to the very vague options!

I miss the legitimate macros before chat ban.

Now, with the simple click of a button, a person can say 'Attacking healer!' without sitting there typing an entire rant like 'Attack the healer you dumb scallywags or I'll kick u in the buttox!'
Cept that is the wrong thing to do in most cases..... this is why people want chat back. I had someone be toxic with those buttons that repeatedly said attack healer while I TRIED! to keep flagging the tank or melee that had 200+ medals. needless to say we lost because of this toxic BLM that does not understand feast. (and happened to be on my server, ignored tells when trying to explain how medals worked)

This new system does not work AT ALL to people that understand how feast is supposed to work.

This change only works for a team that does not know what they are doing vs a team that does not know what they are doing, since now it is easy to give some command for everyone to follow. Any experienced team vs another though needs real chat, real macros, to adopt to the situation and team bust time target x, sleep healer while we burst x, etc....

Honestly some points it's incredibly frustrating. But no more do I have to queue into consecutive games being a butthole and playing like an idiot because I'm in a strop about how someone treated me the previous game.

While I sympathize somewhat, I feel you may be overlooking the bigger issue that while people might feel better for not having to deal with negativity, there is generally MORE negativity due to lack of proper communication leading to otherwise-avoidable losses, or newer players being left blind but forced to try and keep up. It truly is a bigger problem and has created more problems than the one it solved.

Reading these posts and the other thread as well. Makes me wonder if chat was taken away because of what we will call socially detrimental behavior (example name calling). Or how bossy some people come across. I am not saying it is bad to give instructions/help. I just get the sense that these same people plus others don't understand when to stop spamming instructions.

I am sure communication at a higher tier greatly enhances game play. But a lot of bring back chat posts translate roughly to "I need to tell other players what to do. They need to do what I say or that is why we lost or won." Maybe it is just how it comes across in the forums and maybe non of theses people have been warned about this behavior. It just feels that some of this community comes off as very pushy, voting their game play experience first, everyone else second.

You have a good point, and maybe there are some like that. But playing devil's advocate for a moment, when you know you're on a team of less-experienced players and you step up to be the shot caller, or you identify a crucial thing that needs to be dealt with in the heat of battle, ego aside, you really need people to listen.

I've been told "Shut up, Lace, no one's interested in your opinions" when I explained to the tanks and healer sitting on our base all match that we didn't need base guards since we were in third place, and (because I had my map open to see) no one was coming anywhere near base. Now, yes, that's quite irritating, especially to me who's been through many matches, but that was hardly about my own personal satisfaction and more about what's best for the team. I repeatedly advise people not to ride mounts or get on mounts near enemies, but I'm often met with sarcasm (moments before that player becomes an example of why you don't do that).

Fact is, people may seem caught up in not what's said, but how it's said at times. You've really got to put your ego aside in team based competition. If you ignore calls and simply go for kills and your team loses, your high kill count meant nothing. If you sit there and guard a third place base that no one is ever interested in stealing, you've done nothing to help your team. And if someone calls you out on this, they're not trying to satisfy some kind of ego trip, they're trying to raise your awareness to better your sense of cooperation and help lead everyone to victory.

I yell at my screen every time I see someone heavied/bound on a mount. But literally no point typing it in game, you will literally see the same person heavied every time the team moves. Frontlines matches move a bit slower and maybe its easier to recognize if people are going to listen or not. Knowing when to stop giving instructions win or lose is just as important.

I have seen a few people kicked in seal rock not so bad shatter though for heavy instructions. Basically leads us back to the problem we have before. Poor dev team response, community that doesn't understand how their behavior affects others, and a company that wants the cheapest and easiest solution short of turning the mode off.

Agreed. Watching someone spam "Stopping Healer!" over and over again can be extraordinarily frustrating when the healer's CC resist timer is ALREADY ACTIVE. The simple solution would be to tell them that the healer simply cannot be stunned for the next 60s. I actually used to have a macro that timed the healer stun resist and informed the team when the healer could be stunned, but I can't use that anymore. Likewise, I also have almost no idea when the dps are going to use a Limit Break, or when they're going to rotate their full burst. It used to be that you could coordinate your CC and bursts. Now you just kind of have to guess what your team may or may not be doing, then hope for the best. It's ridiculous.
