My point exactly. People don't want to let anything go, because they disagree with my opinions. Now I'm going to please ask you to stop. I don't mean any harm to anyone.![]()

No, you're held accountable for things you've done before. People just don't let things go if someone acts a certain way constantly then tries to start a moral crusade against people acting just like they are. The hypocrisy is too thick for you to just shed and say "well that's in the past guys, dont look at whats happening a month ago, that was then. NOW I am no longer part of the problem I'm complaining about"
The fact that we play the game should be enough reinforcement to prove that we do care about this game. But asking people to simply stop complaining and to just 'enjoy' the game for what it is, actually hurts the community more than the ones complaining about issues they have with the game or the community.
With complaints comes feedback, with feedback comes discussion. I'm still pretty new to the game but not to media in general. I can't simply turn off my brain and avoid critical thinking and just be amused by flashing colors and bright lights. If complaining becomes commonplace than we need to figure out the root of the issue rather than trying to fight each other and suppress discussions that ultimately impact the game. If you're having fun and can't really see why people complain as much as they do, than more power to you for having less of a reason to complain and enjoy what you have. But not everyone will be the same way, nor do we want them to.
My thoughts on the community: sunshine and daisies. From an MMO standpoint this game has by far the most approachable community. Even if i do bash my head against some players, it usually ends quite peacefully.
Most vocal complainers are usually just enthusiastic about the game. Some are angry because they care.
I lost my train of thought.
Summa summarum. People be people.
Its also worth questioning the % of forum goers vs the in game population. Im not too aware of what the actual proportions are, but one would assume.......

It's not playing victim if I legitimately feel attacked, it's not playing victim if I asked you to stop doing something multiple times, it's not playing victim. All I wanted was to make a thread encouaraging more positivity, but look where that has gone.

Maybe because you've established a track record of hypocrisy for yourself? As a general rule, people don't tend to look kindly upon those who say one thing and then do another thing entirely, especially when they complain about the very thing they're guilty of doing themselves.
Not to mention the fact that you started a thread complaining about complaining. That, in and of itself, is laughable enough.
My suggestion to you would be to take (or completely ignore, it's up to you) the criticisms and move on instead of continuing to try and defend yourself on this particular position.
You should leave such things in the hands of the moderators. That's what they are there for. If someone is being needlessly aggressive in any given thread and breaching the terms of service then feel free to make use of the report function. If the moderators deem it to be a breach of the forum's rules then they'll deal with it as they see fit.
You also may mean well but for many people you're just preaching to the choir. FFXIV's forum community really isn't that bad. It isn't perfect, sure, but when people step out of line they're usually dealt with. What you seem to be objecting to, however, is people posting anything contrary to the narrative you're trying to push. If you post something on a site such as this then people are going to post their own thoughts in response. They may say things you disagree with, they may question your motives or raise an eyebrow at perceived contradictions. That's not really against the rules unless it enters 'personal attack' territory. Not everybody is out to get you.
