Them being undesirable is greatly exaggerated, perhaps more so in cutting edge world firsts- but even then we've seen them there too.

Using some rough data from FFLOGs.
Lets use WAR as a baseline for number groups because almost every group has at least 1.
2712 WARs cleared A12S in the database
MNK 1312
Nin 1815
DRG 2099
BLM 1547

While the data is muddied by RF clears you can still draw some insights. So MNK accounted for less than half of the groups that clear, considering there is a significant number of MNKs that are alts of players that play other things and we are already in the catchup patch (so theoretically, people shouldn't care about comps anymore).

P.S: A12S is considered one of the most difficult fights imaginable for BLM and even they are more desired than MNK lol.

Well one of the best things about Monk is that they made the easiest transition into heavensward.

Black mages and dragoons had to tweak their rotations to make adjustments for level 60 while monk simply got quality of life improvements.

I will admit, I hate positionals. So I was put off by monk for the longest time. That was until I actually tried it. Now it is my favorite class and am loving every minute of it while leveling. It is a really fun class and will probably be the one I take into stormblood. (maybe red mage I'll have to try it first before I decide on that one.)

its funny because thanks to the dead ass loldrg meme, the class become more popular then monk not because dps or some cool things like armor or ability, its all because of loldrg, some of my friends even willing to level 60 drg just to see the loldrg moment if it ever happen to them.

I actually ran into a user with the name lol drg in duty finder before haha.

Monk is really fun! It keeps me active while playing which I enjoy. Drg is pretty fun too (needs more positionals and less death jumps) but ninja is just boring in comparison.
