I turn everyone elses effects off. I am the main character of my story. So I only need to see my effects.

is there a way to turn off all the dmg numbers i could probably do without seeing everyones dmg
Oh all the money that e'er I spent
I spent it in good company
And all the harm that e'er I've done
Alas, it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit
To memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all
Character settings > UI settings > HUD > Click off "Display pop up text"
On effects, I wish that "others" didn't include NPCs. I want to be able to keep effects of people outside of my party off while NPCs are on. Sometimes I forget to turn this back on and don't even see an NPC healing me.

IMO it's better to just choose "Show Limited", because iirc if you turn off completely you can't see other player's AoE like Shadow Flare or Asylum.
I have mine all the way on for everybody, i was trying to look at a boss model in dun scaith and couldn't see the boss through all the animations :P
if their at the same settings I made 2 years ago then it should be (Party: full, non-party/alliance: partial, self: full)... I belive I set it this way cause on my 1st run of LoTA, felt like movie hero standing in an exploding munitions wearhouse & remaining after without even a speck of durt/damage after, just nothing but "O.O how did I just survive that!" (along side the confusion u get after its over about which way to go due to blindness lol... you seriously do thou)
You're not alone I just found this out myself and been playing for over 3 YEARS!

I wish we could tone down the blackmage's lb3. I swear in some contents, using that meteor during specific phase could actually wipe the party.

I'm playing with all effects on, but I also only play ranged classes, so not actually seeing the boss because 5000 explosions are hitting him at once is not a problem.
Well, although, tbh, the main reason I don't play melee IS because of blinding effects
I just hate it even more to not see all effects in the overworld and the like, and having to constantly turn them on and off between instance and overworld would be even more annoying .-.
