    Or maybe people could just get over it and not be outraged over the idea of having to unlock things in a video game.

    I have no problem with unlocking things

    The problem is that what people are being asked to unlock is the main multiplayer aspect of the game, and it is locked behind several dozen hours of boring solo fetch quests. It would be different if you could get through the MSQ with friends, because FFXIV makes for a poor single-player RPG
