This was the cause of the low quality of FFXIv. Yes, the game looks good, but they put all efforts on making the gme "beautiful" nad forgot about the mechanics. So yes, looks better ,but wasa aworse game. For ARR, they dedice to use a different engine (a low quality Luminous Studio, instead of the Crystal Tools from FFXIII) in order to get better performance and allow low end machines to run the game.
1.0 when released needed a very powerful machine.
Alot of it is like others have stated they changed the engine to fasilitate there promise to port the game to the ps3 and later the ps4 and since then they have been slowly upgrading the engine to get back up to that lvl of look. Part of the problom with 1.0 alot of pcs couldn't even handle the game it took alot to run it ,it was ahead of its time in that regard however tech is catching back up and there planing for a graphic update in 4.0 and I can only asume more to come after that soo it might get back up to that lvl or better
Well 1.0 did look great but needed a super computer just to run it, otherwise lot of systems struggled just to run it on low settings.
that's why 1.0 flopped, cause most players couldn't play it.
if i had max settings, i had 1 frame PER MINUTE. so i had to play with lowest possible settings.
also because of all that, it would take something like a minute to go through menu to start crafting something.
it would take 5-10seconds to initiate combat (unsheathe weapon and start attacking)
you could run by a mob, and die 1min later, cause it took that long for the game to recognize that the antelope back there, one-shot you by spitting on you.
I sort of hope with the ps3 dropping we wont just get boosted graphics, but more unique graphical effects like better hoods, cloaks, maybe even some more flashy emotes like the Odin one.
Because of ps3, thats why.
This, along with better texture. If we are seriously only getting two jobs and no new race I hope some serious graphic and customization improvements are coming.
My pc in 2010 cost around $750 and ran 1.0 flawlessly. It wasn't that hard to run the game...I can assure you all I did not have some super computer lol my bf and I built it and it ourselves. Just...needed to know what parts to use.
We need a viable anti aliasing before improved textures.
