Who is the one full of presumptions now..?
It'not real life, you don't have to "fear" someone whining, you can just one-click blacklist them and never hear from them again. Most players just don't have any plans whatsoever in the first place, the want a house for the functionality (ability to plant stuff, etc.) and do not care about decorating. This wasn't any different, he said he really doesn't give a damn about the look and I am free to decorate it for him (which I didn't).
All I've done in this thread is promoting to TALK to people, not call GMs upon anyone, not terrorize them through obnoxious furniture. But you assume in rl I'm suddenly the type to do the opposite of what I promote here? Good jo on that leap of logic >.>
It might actually surprise you that I'm a great neighbour (both ingame and out) that is friends with everyone around, even my direct neighbour who's yard is just an atrocious explosion of anything glowy he could find and pile on each other. It's absolutely unbearable to see for me, so my only escape is to turn the camera towards the other direction whenever I'm outside, and, well, that's where the stream and the aforementioned new neighbour are. If he had had the same taste, I would have had no escape anymore.
I really don't understand the notion of "it's my property so I should bother everyone around me as much as possible!", neither irl nor ingame. Sure, you CAN, but it makes you kind of an a**hole, if you do it on purpose. If it's not something you actually care about, would it hurt you to do something to make life more pleasant for those around you?
This mentality is the reason why df is such a toxic place. Nobody thinks "Hey, maybe I should wear up-to-date gear and actually do my rotations right so this run goes fast and smoothly for everyone". It's more of a "lemme see how much I can slack off and inconvenience other players before they get so annoyed that they kick me, then continue to only do said bare minimum!" It's always just ME!ME!ME! without ever stopping and seeing how it affects the other people around >.>
And yes, of course I have my own preferences in mind too, but I'd never try to enforce them towards people who obviously have their own (like, I'd never ask my direct neighbour to tone down on the glowy stuff, because I know he cares about the look of his house and actually likes it), and I said time and again that turning down a request is fine too (like if I got asked to take down my chimney because they thought it wouldn't be a big deal, but I actually really like it, so I'll say no) - what I said is not fine is exactly one thing, and that's annoying someone else JUST BECAUSE THEY ASKED. That's so incredibly childish, how can an adult act so spiteful over nothing? And calling him a hero for doing that tells me more about this community than I wanted to know. It's the same as when people go "woohoo you are sooo amazing for not doing your job because someone else in your party doesn't do it either, so go ahead and make life hell for the other 2/6/22 players because we totally dig that!"
