Make Player Search require some progress in the main questline

If you do this it will at least delay (if not stop) those damn money traders from sending everyone party invites for the sake of advertisement. Since Chocobos no longer count as Party Members we need something to counteract this, besides being in dungeons 24/7.

It sounds like a good idea on the surface but it really isn't. They're bots. They'll just bot to the necessary point it takes before they can spam again. It won't stop them, only delay them. As a result, we other players would get penalized from using a feature that the bots will easily counter.

How many new players actually use the feature though? Lock it behind a point in time where people just start considering using it and it won't hinder much at all. Also unless we get an option to flat-out refuse party invites without sacrificing receiving tells all we can do is find ways to delay the bots in hopes it becomes too much bother for them and they give up that method.

An anonymous status that removes you from the search would be a bit better but is not with it's own problems.

I actually find it weird, one other feature that is locked behind level/story progression is Party Finder, and I've not actually seen an RMT ad on there.

Plenty use it to meet people on other servers, they create an alt and look them up to talk to them. Would hinder this if they have to do story to be able to use the search function.

New players probably won't use it since they most likely don't even know how to. However, players who create alts such as myself would be penalized from searching for my friends on a new character and thus, they would have to search for me instead after creating them. There's been plenty of times that I have dabbled with a fantasia on an alt and /telled people to come check me out before I make the final decision. As a previous poster said, an anonymous status would be better, but to a certain degree, that's kind of what the busy status already is.

What's good times is going to any starter city, standing by the main aetheryte and turn on idling camera. You are guaranteed to focus in on bots being stored in the general area at least once.

Well you do have to do a few things just to interact period. It's not a long process though, especially if you skip cutscenes and stuff.

They simply need to augment the already existing rmt report function to expand on limiting more of the bot's abilities to communicate with other people. What's in place right now currently disables their ability to use the chat, which is great but I think they can go even further with it. They can just expand on it to disable their ability to use party invites or even prevent them from using skills out in the field as well if they get flagged enough times.
