Sudden 90002 error on Balmung. And i am not the only one.

Suddenly i got a 90002 error and when i wanted to get in the world there were over 600 players in the queue? is this again such a server glitch or is this just 3.5 over-hype and server overload? :P

You're not, happening on Mateus too for me (though the queue is lower); you likely won't connect when the queue is done, though. It's returning either error 90002 or 10105 for me when the queue finishes.

I don't think anyone's actually getting in, which is why the queue is growing. People get kicked out by whatever the real problem is, they try to connect (triggering the queue), and wait for the server to reject them again.

They will, but for what seems like the 10th time since returning to XIV a couple of weeks ago, I'm reminded of SE's utter incompetence when it comes to certain aspects of game design and infrastructure. They just finished a 24-hour maintenance (by FAR a longer window than any MMO I've ever played or heard of), and yet we get instability a day or so later? And another maintenance window tonight?

Not that any of this is an overly-big deal, but SE deserves every shred of frustration and criticism they get over their shoddy infrastructure.

The 24 hour maintenance was to add the new content. The (shorter) maintenance tomorrow is to fix bugs that were in the new content.

The unplanned maintenance right now is something they weren't expecting/genuine technical issue.

If they need to take servers down purely for installing a patch, they're more incompetent than I thought. They almost certainly schedule windows that long in order to perform routine maintenance as well, as needed.

Either way, my point being, it's difficult to defend SE when they (a) schedule vastly more downtime than other companies, and (b) are suffering post-patch instability and encountering bugs. The idea behind long maintenance windows is that everything goes off without a hitch. Otherwise you shouldn't need them.

Same here on Sargatanas. I got booted several times. Each time you log in, of course more people are in the queue since they eventually get booted. Can't connect to server, etc. 600+ queue. generally 400+.

When the queue finally lets me in, it's loading... loading... loading... then I get booted again with 10102 "Failed to Connect to Server" blah blah.

I was playing just fine on Adamantoise then the server dropped me. I cannot get back in now getting a message that the world is full and I am nnn in the queue. First attempt I was 123. Latest attempt to select character says I'm 262.
