Sure are a lot of requests for stuff recently....might overwhelm the devs & they won't do any of them! Maybe I'm overthinking.

Ugh, no thank you.
Why do manqo'tes want to be shirtless all the time?
Player

Because a lot of them are either played by women or gay/bi guys who want some eye candy, which is something they don't really get in the vast majority of video games. Straight men got to be naked women in MMOs and general games for years, people can deal with the reverse in FFXIV. It's one of the great things about it really.
Hey, none of my glamours involve being shirtless D:
Then again, I find classy outfits sexier than nudity.
They must have bad taste then :|Because a lot of them are either played by women or gay/bi guys who want some eye candy, which is something they don't really get in the vast majority of video games. I should be working, but I just noticed the last portion of the OP. Perhaps the miq boys are being held captive for breeding purposes. Believe it or not, that's how FFXI explained the complete lack of male mithras (miqo'tes are based off mithras), save for one NPC that appears later in some expansion or another. OK, they weren't held "captive", but lore explained that you never saw any adventurer mithras or even NPCs because they were too busy breeding. Sort of a reverse hive queen situation, which is progressive, I guess?
In this eclectic world, what does "bad taste" even mean? I know people who don't like Final Fantasy and say I have a bad taste for loving it. Many times I was very close to saying "you're the one with bad taste", but then I realized I'd come off just as close minded as them. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, innit?

That's kind of a poor way to look at it. Men in clothes are perfectly common and acceptable in mainstream games, so whether intentional or not, there are plenty of attractive men in games that are fully clothed in various outfits. You can find them no problem. Similarly, women characters in outfits designed to appeal to straight men (usually revealing or conservative in a "pure" way) are also a dime-a-dozen. Men designed to be sexually appealing in skimpy outfits, however, are very difficult to find, or women designed for something other than the male gaze. That's what's so amazing about FFXIV, it just doesn't care (for the most part). You want skimpy men? Do it! Skimpy women? Do it! Fancy clothed men? Go right ahead! A woman not designed for the male gaze? You got those too! While I may not like some people's glamours, it's not "bad taste" just because they want to be skimpy.
Maybe they're from conservative areas and this is a chance for them to be free. Maybe they have body issues and it helps them feel confident. Maybe they just want to escape reality. We're all playing this game for one reason or another, whether you like their choices or not, at least try not to judge them for enjoying their game in a way that ultimately doesn't affect you.

Only if girls can do it too.
