It also had less people playing on it, and the servers didn't really give you a choice on where to go. Aether is the most populated datacenter in XIV, and this, it has issues the others don't, namely, it can't handle the stresses it wasn't designed for. And more people keep transferring to Balmung and Gilgamesh.

SE just needs to perma lock the servers.

Or... you know... upgrade its hardware. If it has a lot of people playing on it, it stands to reason that they should be able to invest more money in it. I don't see Blizzard having trouble, and they have FAR more people playing than FFXIV has ever had.

You can't just "do a hardware upgrade"

That may be what some of 4.0s budget is for, just like 3.0s.

There's no emotional investment in getting half a tube of toothpaste when I pay full price.
