    With the lock, you are forced to actually pay attention to what's going on around you, it also means you cannot spam damage without consequence. In Ifrit's case you can predict when he'll use a TP move, or when he will cast hellfire, it also ensures that zerg strategies will always fail. If there was no animation lock, players would be able to dodge every major attack an enemy threw at them with a nearly 100% success rate, it is no longer a question of skill. In short, Easy mode.

    edit: animation lock has been in the game from the beginning, if the devs had this planned from the beginning, then it is not bad game mechanics, as it was intended to be that way.

    Then again, why am I explaining this to a lv 25 cnj who has probably never done a dungeon run, stronghold, or fought the hard Ifrit fight?

    This "Hard" ifrit fight you mention here is only hard because of this mechanic, and even that isn't too bad, and wasn't your panties in a knot because of archer realism? Archers are useless compared to other jobs right now and I hate it because it was my second 50 if animation lock was abolished archers could be seen as a plausible job for good DD though I think this is their reasoning for bard, don't have to fix the animation lock if its only a debuffer/buffer support DD job...

    also animation lock was here from the beginning, but the beginning was with the old dev team, this is Yosh-P if he wants to change it let him, because in the end we agreed to it, at least the majority did.

    There are other proven strategies for beating Ifrit with arcs. (My FIRST Ifrit win was as an arc) not my problem if you are too "leet" to try them. Second, Arc are only "useless" because we have nothing but damage to offer, damage that was heavily nerfed by player request, and will likely be fixed when they release jobs, and arc gets something else they can offer. Third, if Yoshi-p was going to remove animation lock on arc, he would have done it along with the other DoW. As for my "panties in a bunch" checked yours lately?

    Apparently you didn't read what I said. " Archers are useless compared to other jobs" useless in the sense that if you want to get the fight done quickly and efficiently with minimal deaths / risk , as most groups unfortunately want, you don't pick archer and pugs and it shouldn't be that way.... and my boxers* mind you, are not in a bunch i'm just tired of seeing your archer realism rants all over the place, and animation lock is something I don't expect to be removed, if at all, until post 2.0.. and finally archers arent getting a buff in their damage anytime soon, they are becoming bards, read what becoming a bard entitles.

    So, the game devs are using animation lock as a replacement for challenging mechanics and properly timed boss attacks? Yeah, that's a good reason to defend it.

    Talking about yourself? my responses have been more based in logic than yours

    On that note the lock wasn't removed from arc when it was removed from the others, logically, It is Yoshi-p's vision, that arc have it.
